A method of obtaining position of a downhole tool with respect to a wellbore includes logging well data via the tool over a period of time and measuring a lateral acceleration of the tool over the period of time with one or more accelerometers embedded in the tool. The method further includes performing double integration on an acceleration of the tool over a period of time. The method also includes obtaining a displacement of the tool over the period of time from the double integration. The method also includes fitting the displacement of the tool over the period of time to a best fit curve. The method also includes subtracting the best fit curve from the displacement of the tool over the period of time.

Systems and methods for detecting downhole tool location inside a borehole

A micro-resistivity caliper, in some embodiments, comprises a cylindrical body; multiple center electrodes, arranged circumferentially about the cylindrical body, to emit current into a borehole and toward a borehole wall; multiple focus electrodes to limit dispersion of the current emitted by the center electrodes, each of the focus electrodes surrounding a different center electrode; multiple return electrodes to receive the current emitted by the center electrodes, each of the return electrodes surrounding a different focus electrode; and one or more processors, coupled to the return electrodes, to determine one or more standoffs between the micro-resistivity caliper and the borehole wall based on the currents received from the multiple return electrodes.

Determining borehole parameters using ultrasonic and micro-resistivity calipers

An imaging system includes an x-ray source that emits a beam of x-rays toward an object, a detector that receives high frequency electromagnetic energy attenuated by the object, a data acquisition system (DAS) operably connected to the detector, and a computer operably connected to the DAS. The computer is programmed to compute detector coefficients based on a static low kVp measurement and a static high kVp measurement, capture incident spectra at high and low kVp during fast kVp switching, compute effective X-ray incident spectra at high and low kVp during fast kVp switching using the captured incident spectra, scan a water phantom and normalize the computed detector coefficients to water, adjust the computed effective X-ray incident spectra based on the normalized detector coefficients, compute basis material decomposition functions using the adjusted X-ray incident spectra, and generate one or more basis material density images using the computed basis material decomposition functions.
