A method in a sending system entity for estimating a frequency offset associated with a data transfer from a receiving system entity in a mobile communication network is disclosed. The method includes extracting user data associated with a predefined user from the transferred data and transforming the extracted user data into a time domain. The method also includes estimating a resource symbol phase offset, &#x3b8;, between two resource symbols representing the same user from the transformed user data and estimating a resource element phase offset, &#x3b8;, between two resource blocks occupied by the same user. Additionally, the method includes estimating a frequency offset based on &#x3b8;and &#x3b8;.

The exemplary embodiments of the present invention relate to a transmission part (), to a receiver part (), to a transceiver comprising the transmission and receiver parts, to a radio base station comprising the transceiver, to a method in the transmission part () and to a method in a receiver part (). According to the embodiments of the present invention, the transmission part () is configured to generate calibration sequences; process the sequences to determine a resulting calibration signal prior to transmission to a receiver part for enabling the receiver part to detect group delay of the received resulting calibration signal for calibration of the transceiver and/or of the radio base station in a wideband communications system.

Apparatuses and methods for detecting a group delay in a communication system

A method for supporting wireless communication over a physical channel in a mobile broadband system includes providing an estimate of the channel and obtaining a channel autocorrelation function of a channel impulse response of the channel. The method also includes expressing the channel autocorrelation function as a zero order Bessel function and applying Taylor expansion to the zero order Bessel function. Additionally, the method includes performing derivation of the channel autocorrelation function to obtain an estimate of the maximum Doppler frequency and using the obtained estimate of the maximum Doppler frequency to compensate for a current Doppler effect in a receiver receiving the signals.

An efficient channel quality indicator channel (CQICH) transport method and system are disclosed. The CQICH transport method defines five types of CQI transport formats, to cover known cases of CQI feedback. The CQICH transport method further defines the format of transportation, which enables any of the five types of CQI transport formats to be transmitted.

A unified open loop single-user/multiple-user multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) system and method are disclosed. The system and method operate without use of channel state information feedback. Instead, the method utilizes channel quality indicator feedback to schedule users to spatial resource blocks. Both symmetric multi-user MIMO schemes (like 2&#xd7;2 and 4&#xd7;4) and asymmetric multi-user MIMO schemes are considered. CQI feedback and reduction proposals are also introduced. The method may be used in a proposed network topology.
