A heat-conductive frame () is provided extending between a holder frame () and a fixing member () of an optical device (). Additionally, a heat-conductive member () is provided, which abuts on a dust-proof glass on the light-irradiation side of a liquid crystal panel () and the fixing member (). The holder frame () and the fixing member () are fixed by a heat-conductive agglutinate. Besides, a heat-conductive member () is attached extending between a light-irradiation surface of a transparent member (A) of an irradiation-side polarization plate () and the fixing member (). Optical device and rear projector

There are provided a method of forming an image on a card and an apparatus therefor, which are capable of properly carrying out printing of an image on a card and protection of the printed image in a simplified manner without changing the size of the card. A card is used which has an ink-fixing layer laminated on a surface of a substrate layer and an ink image-receiving layer peelably laminated on a surface of the ink-fixing layer. An image is printed on the card, while feeding the card, by an ink jet printing method using a sublimable dye ink. The card printed with the image is conveyed to a heating source, and subjected to heat treatment by the heating source to cause diffusion of the sublimable dye ink held in the ink image-receiving layer in the ink-fixing layer, and color development to form an image. The ink image-receiving layer is peeled off the card after the heat treatment.

Method of forming image on card and apparatus therefor

There are provided a printing method and an ink jet printer which are capable of attaining the energy saving and reduced installation space as well as implementing high speed printing, and a tape cartridge for use with the ink jet printer. Printing is sequentially carried out on a printing tape having a printing area whose width is sufficiently larger than a length of nozzle arrays of an ink jet head, along the width of the printing tape by the nozzle arrays extending in the direction of the width of the printing tape. The printing tape is fed such that it is reciprocatingly moved, and at the same time the ink jet head facing the printing tape is intermittently moved in a direction orthogonal to the direction of feed of the printing tape, thereby printing on the printing tape by the ink jet head.

Printing method, ink jet printer and tape cartridge for use with ink jet printer

There are provided a waste ink reservoir and an ink jet printer incorporating the waste ink reservoir. A waste ink absorber has a top surface, for receiving waste ink from the print head at the top surface, and then absorbing the waste ink for storage therein. The waste ink absorber has a plurality of ink absorbent boards arranged in a vertically layered structure and formed with respective through holes vertically extending therethrough, such that adjacent through holes of absorbent boards at each pair of respective adjacent layers are displaced from each other, thereby allowing the adjacent through holes to partially communicate with each other. A waste ink container accommodates the waste ink absorber.

There is provided a DC motor control system and method which is capable of carrying out an accurate rotation control of a DC motor even when the power supply voltage thereof is reduced. A detection signal indicative of a detected number of rotations of the DC motor is delivered. Stop control is carried out for stopping the DC motor by braking rotation of the DC motor when the number of rotations of the DC motor indicated by the detection signal has reached a predetermined number of rotations.

In an ink jet recording apparatus and method recording is performed by using a replaceable ink cartridge mounted in the ink jet recording apparatus, and includes a recording head for delivering ink therefrom. Cleaning of the recording head is carried out by sucking ink from the recording head. A cartridge absence time period is detected over which continues a cartridge-unmounted state of the ink jet recording apparatus in which the ink cartridge is removed from the ink jet recording apparatus. An amount of ink to be sucked for the cleaning is set, based on the cartridge absence time period, when the ink cartridge is mounted in the ink jet recording apparatus.

Ink jet recording apparatus and method of controlling the same based on cartridge absence time period

An ink jet recording apparatus and a method of flushing a recording head of the same are provided. A recording medium is fed along a predetermined feeding passage in a predetermined feeding direction. An ink jet recording head is arranged in a manner movable along a with of the recording medium, in directions orthogonal to the predetermined feeding direction, for effecting printing on the recording medium while moving within a range of printing motion which is larger than a width of the recording medium. Further, the ink jet recording head is controlled such that the ink jet recording head ejects ink droplets toward an area aside from the recording medium within the range of printing motion to carry out a flushing operation of ejecting ink droplets regardless of contents to be printed during a printing process.
