A method of driving a loom is characterized by driving devices of a loom according to instructions for works and stopping a drive actuator on the basis of stop position information. The stop information used to stop the drive actuator is set relative to the devices of the loom, and is set prior to adjusting, maintaining, or initializing the devices of the loom.

Method and apparatus for driving a loom

A take-up control system for controlling a take-up motion included in a loom controls the take-up motion according to the diameter of a roll of cloth being woven on the loom so that a proper tension is exerted on the cloth. A take-up controller included in the take-up control system controls a torque-controllable motor for driving a cloth roller to take up the cloth in the roll on the basis of an electric signal representing the diameter of the roll according to a control program to exert a properly adjusted tension on the cloth. The take-up controller can also control an actuator for pressing a pressing member against the circumference of the roll according to weaving conditions, or weaving conditions and the diameter of the roll, to apply a properly adjusted pressure to the roll by the pressing member.

A picking method and apparatus for a multicolor picking loom to provide changes in the number of rotations of the loom in order to pick a desired weft. A plurality of number-of-rotations patterns are preset and each pattern corresponds to one of the number-of-rotations selection signals. Picking method and apparatus for multicolor picking loom

A method of controlling the easing motion (1) of a loom executes a position control operation and a tension control operation successively in one weaving cycle of the loom. The position of an easing roller (6) included in the easing motion (1) is measured in a position control period, a correction is determined according to the deviation of the measured position of the easing roller (6) from a desired roller position, and a controlled variable is corrected by using the correction to make the actual position of the easing roller (6) approach the desired roller position.

A pile warp tension control method uses a pile warp tension control device capable of adjusting the tension of pile warp yarns according to a weave on a pile fabric loom. The pile warp tension control method involves setting a first pile warp tension amount for a pile weave section weaving mode for use in weaving a pile weave section, and setting second pile warp tension amounts for ground weave section weaving modes, respectively, for use in weaving ground weave sections, where the second pile warp tension amounts are higher than the first pile warp tension amounts. The control method further involves gradually increasing the tension of the pile warp yams from the first pile warp tension amount toward a selected one of the second pile warp tension amounts in a predetermined period after the change of the operating mode of the pile fabric loom from the pile weave section weaving mode to the ground weave section weaving mode. The control method next involves adjusting the tension of the pile warp yarns to the selected second pile warp tension amount after the end of the predetermined period.

Method of controlling pile warp tension on pile fabric loom

In an electric shedding control apparatus, shedding patterns are stored in memories in such a manner that the shedding patterns are compressed and the time required to read the shedding patterns is shortened. An electric shedding apparatus is provided for driving each of a plurality of heddle frames independently and in synchronization with a rotation of a main shaft of a loom. Constituents of the shedding operations are set in advance, and the constituents are selected for each shedding step. Also, in order to drive the heddle frame, shedding amount instruction for the heddle frame is output in accordance with the rotation of the loom main shaft based on a shedding curve which includes the selected constituents.

A loom speed controlling apparatus includes a counter adapted to output a current pick number, a data memory for storing the maximum allowable loom speed values depending upon physical characteristics of various filling yarns in correlation with pick numbers, and a discriminator for determining a target rotational speed of a driving motor for the loom in accordance with the current pick number supplied from the counter and data supplied from the data memory. An indexing signal generator is connected to an input of the counter and an inverter for variable-speed operation of the loom driving motor is connected to an output of the discriminator and the index signal generator includes a plurality of proximity switches adapted to be disposed close to a loom spindle and the indexing signal generator.

Loom speed controller responsive to filling yarn characteristics

A shedding controlling apparatus for a loom wherein each of a plurality of heald frames is driven by a drive motor for the exclusive use therefor. During steady operation of the loom, when a crank angle is inputted to a position instructing section, the position instructing section produces an aimed amount of rotation, and a position controlling section controls the drive motor to rotate in accordance with the aimed amount of rotation to eliminate a deviation thereof from a crank shaft of the loom to establish a synchronized relationship between them. Then, when an operation instruction signal is generated during stopping of the loom, a movement instructing advice drives the drive motor by a predetermined amount of rotation by way of an OR gate and the position controlling section in accordance with a shedding pattern designated by way of a shedding instructing and shedding pattern instructing so that a leveling operation of the heald frame, a pick finding operation and a starting preparing operation may be performed automatically.

Pick finding apparatus for electric motor driven heald frames

A loom operating apparatus and method involving the use of an inverter device interposed between loom motor and power supply. The inverter device is controlled so as to make the motor torque greater than a rated value from immediately after start-up up to the completion thereof, and equal to the rated value thereafter. This eliminates contact wear and other disadvantages associated with the use of contact circuits, and allows the loom to be started up free of staggered weaves.

Loom operating apparatus and method

A seersucker loom is arranged such that puckering warp yarns are divided to form a shed during the weaving of a seersucker. The tension of the puckering warp yarns is maintained on a level below that of the tension of the ground warp yarns. The puckering warp yarns are slackened positively at least during a slackening period from a shed closing operation to a beating-up operating of every turn of the main shaft of the seersucker loom so that the tension of the puckering warp yarns are reduced to a value which below a predetermined tension of the yarns during a period other than during the slackening period. This enables the loom to slacken portions of the puckering warp yarns near the cloth fell sufficiently during the beating-up operation so that the puckering warp yarns are satisfactorily puckered.

A pile warp tension controller for controlling the pile warp yarn tension control mechanism of a pile fabric loom controls the position of the tension roller of the pile warp yarn tension control mechanism or the torque acting on a tension lever supporting the tension roller according to the operating state of the pile fabric loom so that the tension of the pile warp yarns is regulated at an optimum value. The control mode of the pile warp tension controller is changed over from a tension control mode to a speed control mode in forming loops of the pile warp yarns to ensure the satisfactory formation of loops having a predetermined loop length and to prevent defective loops.

Pile warp yarn tension control

A warp yarn breakage detecting and indicating apparatus capable of stopping the loom upon the detection of the breakage of a warp yarn and indicating the position of the broken warp yarn. The warp yarn breakage detecting and indicating apparatus comprises a stop control circuit for stopping the loom upon the detection of the breakage of a warp yarn, and an indication control circuit for indicating the position of the broken warp yarn, which are connected alternately to the dropper unit of the loom. Thus, the two control circuits are able to operate individually to implement the respective control functions thereof without adversely affecting each other for warp yarn breakage detection and for warp yarn breakage indication.
