A computer comprises a processor and a memory. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor to input a frequency spectrum distribution to a machine learning program to obtain carrier data as output from the machine learning program satellite communication. The machine learning program is trained with a plurality of frequency spectrum distributions of a wireless satellite communication signal and metadata specifying one or more satellite communication carriers for respective ones of the frequency spectrum distributions, wherein the metadata for each satellite communication carrier includes a respective center frequency and a respective symbol rate.

Carrier acquisition in satellite communications

A satellite terminal comprises a processor and a memory. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor to determine a frequency spectrum distribution for a wireless communication signal received from an antenna, to input the determined frequency spectrum distribution of the received wireless communication signal to a machine learning program trained to identify one or more satellite communication carriers in a frequency spectrum distribution, to receive a list of one or more satellite communication carriers from the trained machine learning program, and to lock the satellite terminal to one of the carriers included in the list of one or more satellite communication carriers.

An apparatus for determining a set of transmit parameters capable of improving and/or optimizing data throughput to a destination device. The apparatus includes an input circuit that receives a signal containing a plurality of data blocks for use by a plurality of devices. At least one of the data blocks is associated with the apparatus and encoded using a first set of transmit parameters. A transmit parameter processor determines a signal to noise ratio value for the received signal and a block error rate value for the at least one data block and at least one other data block encoded using a different set of transmit parameters. A processor generates a request for encoding subsequent data blocks destined to the apparatus using a second set of transmit parameters. A method and system are also disclosed.

A system for scheduling prioritized traffic in a scrambled and coded multiple access (SCMA) system multiple terminals and a gateway. Each terminal is configured to receive packets from user devices and place the packets on various input queues. The packets are en-queued onto a plurality of output queues based on priority or service class. The terminal is further configured to detect one or more available SCMA slots within a frame of a communication system, and de-queue packets from the highest priority output queue onto the frame via one or more SCMA bursts. The terminal includes transceiver for transmitting/receiving frames of the communication system to/from the gateway. The terminals autonomously transmit SCMA bursts relative to each other.

The terminals autonomously transmit SCMA bursts on a first channel, and transmit TDMA bursts on a second channel based on assigned timings received from the gateway.

A computer for a communications terminal includes a memory and a processor. The computer is programmed to identify a spectrum analysis test triggering event. The computer specifies a set of test parameters that include a test frequency range. The computer further sets a receiver to receive sequentially a plurality of signals. Each signal is received in one of a plurality of frequency bands within the frequency range. The computer measures, via the receiver, at least one characteristic of the signal received in each frequency band.
