Methods for visualizing treatment outcomes are provided. In some embodiments, a method includes obtaining a first 2D image of a patient's teeth from a mobile device, and obtaining an arch model representing an outcome for the patient's teeth after orthodontic treatment. The method can include matching the patient's teeth in the first 2D image to corresponding teeth in the arch model, using a parametric model. The method can also include determining a target position for the patient's teeth, based on a position of the matched corresponding teeth in the arch model. The method can further include generating a second 2D image depicting the patient's teeth in the target position.

Methods for visualizing treatment outcomes

Orthodontic systems for monitoring treatment. The systems can include at least one orthodontic appliance that includes one or more sensors. A processor in communication with the sensor(s) is configured to receive sensor data from the sensor(s), where the sensor data corresponds to a force acting on one or more teeth. The processor is further configured to predict tooth movement based on the sensor data. The predicted tooth movement is determined by predicting how much teeth will move based on a direction and a magnitude of the force. The processor is further configured to compare the predicted tooth movement to an expected tooth movement, where the expected tooth movement is based on a treatment stage of a treatment plan. The processor is further configured to modify the treatment plan if the predicted tooth movement does not match the expected tooth movement based on the treatment stage of the treatment plan.

Orthodontic systems for monitoring treatment

Methods for simulating orthodontic treatment are provided. In some embodiments, a method includes capturing a first representation, the first representation including a depiction of a patient's teeth. The method can include building a parametric model of the patient's teeth based on the first representation, using one or more case-specific parameters for one or more shapes associated with at least one of the patient's teeth. The method can also include simulating an outcome of a dental treatment plan for the patient's teeth to produce a simulated outcome of the dental treatment plan. The method can further include modifying the parametric model to provide a modified model representing the simulated outcome of the dental treatment plan.

Methods for simulating orthodontic treatment

Method and Apparatuses for monitoring progress of an orthodontic treatment plan and automatically or semi-automatically modifying the orthodontic treatment plan. The orthodontic treatment plan may be monitored by sensors on one or more appliance in the treatment plan, and may be monitored if the sensed data deviates from the expected treatment plan.

Closed loop adaptive orthodontic treatment methods and apparatuses

Systems and methods of simulating dental treatments are disclosed. A method may include capturing a first 2D image of a patient's face, including the patient's teeth, building a parametric 3D model of the patient's teeth based on the 2D image, developing a simulated outcome of a dental treatment of the patient's teeth by rendering the 3D model with the patient's teeth in one or more positions and/or orientations corresponding to the treatment goals of the dental treatment plan, and rendering a second 2D image of the patient's face with teeth according to a simulated outcome of the dental treatment plan. As noted herein, the dental treatment plan may include orthodontic and/or restorative elements. The simulated outcome may correspond to estimated outcomes and/or intended outcomes of the dental treatment plan.
