A system can be for use with a number of reference tags disposed at respective reference locations in a coverage area. The reference tags can be configured to form a wireless mesh network. A system can include a first tag configured to communicate with the reference tags. The first tag can operate in a sleep mode and includes a motion sensor. The first tag is woken out of the sleep mode on a first periodic basis to communicate with the reference tags. The first tag is woken out of the sleep mode at a second periodic basis in response to motion signal from the motion sensor. The second periodic basis is more frequent than the first periodic basis. The system can also include a positioning system configured to receive data related to the communication between the first tag and the reference tags. The positioning system can be configured to process the data to determine a location of the first tag.

End to end emergency response

The system comprises a plurality of reference tags affixed to reference locations in a coverage area and configured to form a wireless mesh network. The system also includes a call tag configured to communicate with the plurality of reference tags and to collect data regarding the communication with the plurality of reference tags. The call tag is configured to send a first signal in response to an event. A positioning system is coupled to the wireless mesh network and configured to receive the first signal and the data collected by the call tag. The positioning system is further configured to process the data collected by the call tag to determine the call tag location with respect to the plurality of reference tags. A portable electronic device is configured to communicate with the wireless mesh network and configured to receive call tag location from the positioning system.

An asset tracking system includes a station, transmitting points, and an asset tag. The asset tag can be used for communicating with the transmitting points to form a mesh network. The station receives data associated with signal strengths between transmitting points and asset tag. The station analyzes the data associated with a number of the transmitting points and determines the location of the asset tag.

In some implementations, a portable imaging system includes a host computer, a docking station connected to the host computer, and a portable imaging device intermittently attached to the docking station and configured to communicate data with the host computer through a wired connection when the portable imaging device is attached to the docking station, and through a wireless connection when detached from the docking station. In some implementations, a method for communicating data between a portable imaging device and a computer is also provided. In some implementations, the method includes determining whether a wired connection is established between the portable imaging device and the computer. In some implementations, if established, the wired connection is used to communicate data between the portable imaging device and the computer. In some implementations, if a wired connection is not established, a wireless connection between the portable imaging device and the computer is established and used to communicate data between the portable imaging device and the computer.

Systems and techniques are provided for a directional antenna system that employs a wireless link between x-ray apparatus. The system includes a host computer, an x-ray tube with an emission scan channel, a first directional antenna connected to the x-ray tube and with an orientation parallel to the emission channel, a second antenna wirelessly communicating with the first directional antenna, an x-ray detector wirelessly communicating with the x-ray tube, and a rigid panel supporting the second antenna and the x-ray detector being in contact with the emission scan channel. Specific techniques are employed to manage antenna direction and transmission.
