A method for preparing an adsorbent for removing organic dyes from water includes providing a volume of egg white, adding a volume of formaldehyde to the volume of egg white to form a mixture, maintaining a pH of the mixture at about pH 8.5, stirring the mixture until a viscous product is formed, and washing and drying the product to provide the adsorbent.

Method for preparing an adsorbent for removing organic dyes from water

A method for preparing an adsorbent for removing organic dyes from water includes reacting egg white with hydrochloric acid. The reaction can include mixing egg white with water to form a solution, and adding the acid to the solution to form a precipitate. The precipitate can be filtered, washed, and dried to provide the adsorbent. The adsorbent can be contacted with wastewater contaminated with organic pollutants to remove the organic pollutants from the wastewater. The organic pollutants can include p-nitrophenol.

Method for preparing adsorbent for removing organic pollutants from water

The method for removing organic dyes from wastewater includes: (i) placing a magnetic polymer microsphere into contact with wastewater contaminated with organic dyes; (ii) permitting the organic dyes to adsorb onto the magnetic polymer microsphere; and removing the magnetic polymer microsphere using an external magnetic field applied by a magnet. The morphology was crucial in enhancing the cyanide ion photocatalytic degradation efficiency of ZnOby a factor of 1.5 in comparison to the efficiency of ZnOat equivalent loading of 0.0166 ZnO nanoparticles wt %.

The results indicate that there are significant morphological differences between ZnOand ZnO. ZnOshowed a regular polyhedral shape, while spherical and chunky particles were observed for ZnO. The morphology was crucial in enhancing the cyanide ion photocatalytic degradation efficiency of ZnOby a factor of 1.5 in comparison to the efficiency of ZnOat equivalent loading of 0.02 ZnO nanoparticles wt %. Increasing the loading wt % of ZnOfrom 0.01 to 0.07 led to an increase in the photocatalytic degradation efficiency from 67% to 90% after 45 minutes and a doubling of the first-order rate constant (k).
