A method, device and/or system for connecting at least one subscriber device, e.g., a legacy subscriber device, to a wideband distribution network. The device may include, for example, an up-converter to up-convert a subscriber upstream signal within a subscriber upstream frequency band supported by the subscriber device, into an up-converted upstream signal within an upstream sub-band of an extended upstream frequency band; and/or a down-converter to down-convert an extended downstream signal in an extended downstream frequency band, into a down-converted subscriber downstream signal within a subscriber downstream frequency band supported by the subscriber device.

A television multiplexing and transmission system and method, which is using certain portions of the standard television channel-bandwidth to superimpose additional information by phase-modulating said information using precisely-derived frequency carriers combined with reference frequencies and injecting said phase modulated electronic signals at amplitudes below the standard minimum detectable signal without affecting the simultaneous orderly operation of the same standard television channels into which the additional information is multiplexed, which system may be used to simultaneously transmit to a plurality of users various data in response to their corresponding queries, with particular applications to CATV systems, comprising a user data unit, a multiplexing and transmission unit and a alternate frequency unit.

Embodiments of the invention include a method, device an/or system of expanding the operational bandwidth of a communication infrastructure. An optical gathering box may include, according to some demonstrative embodiments of the invention, an optical connector to optically connect the apparatus to an optic fiber; and at least one interface including first and second radio-frequency connectors; an optical to radio-frequency converter to convert a downstream optical signal received via the optical connection into an extended downstream radio-frequency signal in an extended downstream frequency band; and a triplexer to route the extended downstream signal to the first radio-frequency connector; to route a legacy downstream radio-frequency signal in a legacy frequency band from the second radio-frequency connector to the first radio-frequency connector; and to route a legacy upstream radio-frequency signal in the legacy frequency band from the first radio-frequency connector to the second radio-frequency connector. System, device and method of expanding the operational bandwidth of a communication infrastructure

A system and method for spectral node splitting in cable TV network based on hybrid fiber-coax architecture is disclosed. Two-way optical signals carrying video and/or multimedia content are received at a signal distribution node. Portions of the received signals are processed according to the functionality the direction thereof. Certain frequency ranges are passed intact while specific different downstream and specific different upstream frequency bands are converted in a manner as to be allowed to be multiplexed into an extended broadband signal. The frequency bands within the extended broadband signal are distributed selectively among separate branches of the network. The frequency bands dedicated to the upstream traffic are received selectively from the separate network branches to be back converted and transmitted upstream to the network controller.
