Cooling means are provided for directing cooling air over a desired portion of an electronic components card. A deflector attachable to the electronic components card for directing cooling air over the card is provided. The deflector is adapted to be moved with respect to the card to direct cooling air over different portions of the card. The deflector includes a scoop extending along the plane of the card and beyond the edge of the card when the deflector is attached to the card for redirecting cooling air over the card. The deflector can include a pair of walls having spaced apart interior surfaces forming a channel for receiving the card for attaching the deflector to the card. A method for cooling an electronic components card includes providing a deflector having a scoop for redirecting cooling air and attaching the deflector to the card so that the scoop directs cooling air over the card to cool the electronic components. The method includes attaching the deflector at a desired location along the card edge to direct air over a desired portion of the card.

An extender card arrangement having ejector levers attached to the unitary card portion of an extender card to aid in the insertion and removal of the extender card into and from a backplane, and having ejector lever brackets attached to the extender card card guides to allow the ejector levers on a card under test to be used to aid in the insertion and removal of the card under test into and from the extender card.

A connector protection bracket that mounts to the rear of an electronic assembly, having a flange extending away from the electronic assembly to protect the connector such that should the rear of the assembly drop upon removal from a shelf, the flange, rather than the connector, will strike the shelf.

A system for cooling an electrical chassis in which two separate zones are formed within the chassis by horizontal separators forming an internal floor and a ceiling, and a mid-located backplane acting as a vertical separator, spanning from floor to ceiling. Air flow volume through the zones is controlled separately through the use of separate air intake filters that may have different filter densities and sizes, and appropriate fan pack size.

A circuit card faceplate, that is opaque to EMI emissions of a predetermined spectral range, having a tongue extending along one side edge, and a groove extending along the other side edge. The groove is arranged to receive and interlockingly engage a corresponding tongue on a side edge of an adjacent faceplate such that the tongue and groove engagement form a seam that is opaque to EMI emissions of the predetermined spectral range. The circuit card faceplate allows for top insertion of circuit card assemblies.

The Printed Circuit Board Assembly Extraction Tool is designed to provide a method for removing Printed Circuit Board Assemblies from card file assemblies. The Extraction Tool is provided with a rubber bumper that protects the card file designation strip from damage during the extraction process. Also provided is an handle design that accommodates spare rubber bumpers. The handle also provides a way to remove PCBA's from the card file directly above panels by inclusion of a 15.degree. offset in the handle design. The Extraction Tool design allows transfer of the extraction force to the same direction as PCBA removal. Finally, a channel is provided that acts to automatically deactivate card retainer strips while using the tool.

An adapter for supporting e number of printed wiring cards onto an electronic equipment rack equipped with means of support for cards of a larger size. The adapter includes end plates mentioned to fit into the mounting hardware of an existing rack normally providing space for larger cards. The end plates and sides being virtually identical to the older type and size of printed wiring card.

A card file adapter assembly for mounting a plurality printed wiring cards of a smaller size than are normally permitted on an associated electronic equipment mounting rack. The adapter is so constructed in size as to be able to be slid directly into existing mounting hardware of an older type providing mounting space for printed wiring cards of a more reduced size.

In order to accomplish the object of the present invention there is provided a movable standoff for maintaining a distance between a backplane and a shroud. Several receptacles are attached to the front side of the backplane and have pins that pass from the front side of the backplane to the rear side of the backplane. Additionally, the pins pass through the shroud. The movable standoff has an orifice extending from a first end to a second end. The pins of the receptacles pass through the orifice. The first end rests against the back side of the backplane, the shroud rests against the second end. Also, the second end of the movable standoff is smaller than the first end.

The card guide with hook/card lock as disclosed is designed to prevent a printed circuit board (PCB) from being disengaged without first moving the mechanical card locking hook an adequate distance. When the mechanical card locking hook is flexed to disengage a PCB, the card lock will move only enough to allow the PCB to be disengaged and removed. The card guide has a built in fixed stop to prevent the extended card lock from deforming or breaking during disengagement of a PCB.
