A combo-cooler includes heat exchangers having parallel tubes corresponding to each heat exchanger aligned in a tube plane. A first end tank assembly includes a columnar end tank separated by a baffle into compartments each in fluid communication with a respective hydraulically independent fluid circuit. The second tank assembly includes manifolds aligned in a column. Serially adjacent manifolds are in slidable contact or separated by a respective gap to allow relative translation. Banks of the tubes are brazed in fluid communication with a compartment and a manifold to connect the compartment and the manifold to have a respective fluid flow therethrough. A bracket contacts at least two of the serially adjacent manifolds to prevent translation between the bracket and the serially adjacent manifolds perpendicular to the tube plane and to allow relative translation between the at least two of the serially adjacent manifolds parallel to the tubes.

Combo-cooler

Heat exchanger tubes are disclosed herein. An embodiment of a heat exchanger tube includes a tube body having two opposed sides. A plurality of exterior flow passages is defined in the tube body adjacent one of the two opposed sides. A plurality of interior flow passages is defined in the tube body adjacent the plurality of exterior flow passages. The plurality of exterior flow passages has at least one of an average hydraulic diameter or an average width that is i) greater than at least one of an average hydraulic diameter or an average width of the interior flow passages and ii) less than twice the at least one of the average hydraulic diameter or the average width of the interior flow passages.

Heat exchanger tubes and methods for enhancing thermal performance and reducing flow passage plugging

Optimized designs of heat exchangers, and, in particular, heat exchangers and assemblies comprising multi-exchangers or combo coolers comprising different heat exchanger parts or elements, and fins or separators of different types and/or characteristics on the different tube parts of the heat exchanger results, are disclosed. The two part heat exchanger is capable of being traversed by different fluids, and fins differ in characteristics, such as height and pitch, to increase overall heat exchanger efficiency.

Multi-type fins for multi-exchangers

An improved heat exchanger for an automotive vehicle is disclosed. The heat exchanger typically includes at least one end tank; and a plurality of spaced apart extruded metal tubes with fins between the spaced tubes. The heat exchanger may be single or multi-fluid. In preferred embodiments, the heat exchanger is arranged to have tubes or tube arrangements the improve heat transfer efficiency.

Heat exchanger

An improved heat exchanger for an automotive vehicle, comprising at least one end tank; and at least two heat exchangers including a plurality of spaced apart extruded metal tubes with fins between the spaced tubes. The heat exchangers are disposed so that their respective tubes and fins are generally co-planar with each other and are connected to the end tank. In preferred embodiments, the heat exchanger may include a bypass element.

An improved heat exchanger, and, particularly, for an automotive vehicle, is disclosed. The heat exchanger typically includes at least one end tank; and a plurality of spaced apart metal tubes with fins between the spaced tubes. The heat exchanger may be single or multi-pass. In preferred embodiments, the heat exchanger is arranged to be single pass or two-pass and has tubes or tube arrangements to improve heat transfer efficiency.

A fin louver design using breaking and reversal louvers whose lengths are substantially longer than the half-length of the main louver but at slightly lower angles to the fin face, in order to increase the heat transfer while reducing or minimizing the airside air pressure drop. The reversal louvers will not dramatically change the airflow direction but rather permit air to follow the louver direction, thus preventing any dead area where the air speed is approximately zero in the central part between the two reversal louvers. Contact is provided between fresh moving air and the central part between the two reversal louvers.
