A method includes capturing a user-selected setting that represents a desired balance between (i) energy usage and (ii) thermal comfort associated with a building; capturing, via a communication link with one or more hardware devices associated with thermal management of the building, one or more items of real-time information pertaining to the thermal management of the building; determining one or more set-point temperatures for the building based on (i) the user-selected setting, (ii) the items of real-time information pertaining to the thermal management of the building, and (iii) one or more constraints; and outputting the set-point temperatures to the hardware devices associated with the thermal management of the building for execution of a thermal management schedule to be carried out in accordance with the set-point temperatures.

Methods, systems, and computer program products for detecting losses in electrical networks are provided herein. A computer-implemented method includes computing a consumption estimation for each consumer associated with a network; determining a difference between (i) the consumption estimation and (ii) actual consumption for each consumer; clustering the consumers into a cluster based on a consumption pattern associated with each consumer; determining a level of deviation of (i) the consumption pattern associated with each consumer from (ii) a consumption pattern representative of the cluster; clustering the consumers into two or more clusters based on a consumption pattern during a first interval of time and during a second interval of time; determining, for each consumer, a level of evolution from (i) a first cluster during the first interval to (ii) a second cluster during the second interval; and identifying consumers associated with a given loss within the network.

Methods and arrangements for determining a pointer position for a mobile device display screen. A contemplated method includes: detecting a position of a physical object relative to the mobile device display; using the detected position to determine at least a perpendicular distance of the physical object relative to the mobile device display; calculating a position for a pointer with respect to the mobile device display, wherein the position of the pointer is determined using the perpendicular distance; and displaying the pointer on the mobile device display at the calculated position. Other variants and embodiments are broadly contemplated herein.

A method includes generating one or more power-related models based on (i) data pertaining to a given device battery, (ii) data pertaining to one or more context sources, and (iii) one or more items of power-related historical data; determining a charging schedule for the given device battery to provision power for a picogrid based on the one or more power-related models, wherein said picogrid comprises a set of one or more additional devices connected to (i) the given device and (ii) an energy storage component; and implementing the charging schedule on the given device.
