A method for providing a policy rule from a User Equipment to a mobile communication system. The method includes establishing a communication channel between the UE and a User Plane entity of the mobile communication system, sending the policy rule through the communication channel from the UE to the UP entity and receiving at the UE from the UP entity an indication of whether the policy rule is accepted or rejected. The UP entity may send the policy rule to a first Control Plane entity for authorization. In turn, the first CP entity may send the policy rule to a second Control Plane entity for authorization. The User Plane entity may be a User Plane Function including a Collaborative Performance Enhancement (COPE) entity.

There is provided mechanisms for enabling discovery of a collaborative proxy node in a 3GPP communication network. A method is performed by a network exposure function. The method comprises obtaining, from a content providing application function, a request for a cooperative performance enhancement service to be performed for application traffic between the application function and a user equipment, the cooperative performance enhancement service being performed by the cooperative performance enhancement node. A method of configuring a first client device to utilize at least one type of rate adaptation method in a negotiated session with a second client device. The first client determines whether a first type of rate adaptation method and a generic feedback format are to be used in the negotiated session. Upon determining that only the first type of rate adaptation method is to be used, the first client device is configured to utilize the first type of rate adaptation method for both semi-static and dynamic rate adaptation. Upon determining that both are to be used, the first client device is configured to utilize the first type for semi-static rate adaptation, and to utilize for dynamic rate adaptation a preferred rate adaptation method selected from a plurality of rate adaptation method types that provide improved performance for dynamic rate adaptation compared to the first type of rate adaptation method.

Method and apparatus for implementing congestion control negotiation

A network node and a method therein for transferring a media stream are disclosed. The network node () transfers (A) a media stream from a first device () to at least a second device (), wherein the first device () supports bit rate adaptation based on Temporary Maximum Media Stream Bitrate Request, 'TMMBR', feedback and the second device () supports bit rate adaptation based on Self-Clocked Rate Adaptation for Multimedia, 'SCReAM', feedback. The network node () receives (A) SCReAM feedback from the second device (). Furthermore, the network node () derives (A) at least one rate control message from the SCReAM feedback. Moreover, the network node () determines (A), based on said at least one rate control message, a recommended bit rate to be recommended for use by the first device () when encoding the media stream.
