A frac sleeve system includes a well casing with a tubular wall having a frac port defined therethrough for hydraulic fracturing. A sleeve within the well casing includes a sleeve body. The sleeve is mounted for axial movement relative to the tubular wall of the well casing among three positions including: a closed position in which the sleeve body blocks the frac port, a frac position in which the sleeve body clears the frac port so the frac port is open for hydraulic fracturing therethrough, and a production position in which the sleeve at least partially blocks the frac port.

Apparatus, methods, and systems are provided to count one or more magnetically permeable objects that have passed by a magnetic sensor and determine a direction thereof. The apparatus comprises a first permanent magnet; a second permanent magnet; a magnetic field sensor disposed between opposing poles of the first permanent magnet and the second permanent magnet; and a circuit connected to the magnetic field sensor, the circuit configured to count one or more magnetically permeable objects that have passed by the magnetic field sensor, and determine direction of the one or more magnetically permeable objects based on an output of the magnetic field sensor.

A completion section includes a base pipe defining a central flow passage, an injection port, and a production port. A fracturing assembly includes a frac sleeve positioned within the central flow passage adjacent the injection port, a sensor that detects a wireless signal, a first frac actuator actuatable in response to the wireless signal to move the frac sleeve and expose the injection port, and a second frac actuator actuatable based on the wireless signal to move the frac sleeve to occlude the injection port. A production assembly is axially offset from the fracturing assembly and includes a production sleeve positioned within the central flow passage adjacent the production port, a filtration device arranged about the base pipe, and a production actuator actuatable based on the wireless signal or an additional wireless signal to move the production sleeve to an open position where the production ports are exposed.

Wireless activation of wellbore completion assemblies

Systems and methods for wireless telemetry in oil and gas wells use fluid pressure differentials to send signals from surface equipment to a downhole tool. More specifically, the methods and systems selectively apply fluid pressure to a tubing string and measure the resulting mechanical strain, or deformation, on a tubular of the downhole tool. The deformation may be an elastic deformation or it may be a plastic deformation with yielding of the tubular. One or more of such strains or deformations may be used to encode a digital signal that can command an action on the tool. The strain or deformation may be measured by a low-cost strain gauge.

A wellbore isolation device comprises a component selected from the group consisting of a mandrel, a packer element, a sealing ball, a wedge, a slip, a mule shoe, a wiper element, a wiper body, and any combination thereof; wherein the component comprises a degradable non-metallic material that degrades upon exposure to a wellbore environment; and wherein the degradable non-metallic material is a composite material comprising a non-epoxy matrix material and a reinforcing material.

An electrically-controlled, pin-pulling valve includes a pull pin (e.g., a pull piston) and a chemical propellant. The valve is configured to, using the pull pin and the chemical propellant, actuate from a closed position to an open position to activate a downhole tool. For instance, the pin-pulling valve may, based on an activation signal, activate the chemical propellant, which may cause the chemical propellant to react. The activation of the chemical propellant may cause the pull pin to withdraw from an extended position to a withdrawn position. The withdrawal of the pull pin may cause the pin-pulling valve to open, allowing hydraulic fluids to flow through a port associated with the downhole tool previously sealed by the pin-pulling valve. The flow of the hydraulic fluids may activate the downhole tool by exerting hydraulic pressure on the downhole tool.

A sealing apparatus includes a swellable metal. The swellable metal, when exposed to a fluid, is transitionable from an initial configuration having an initial volume to an expanded configuration having an increased volume. The swellable metal, upon transitioning to the expanded configuration in an annulus of a fluid channel, forms a seal against a surface of the fluid channel such that fluid communication across the swellable metal in the annulus is at least partially restricted.

Zonal isolation devices, systems, and methods for use are provided. In some embodiments, the zonal isolation device comprises a tubular body having a fluid communication pathway formed along a longitudinal axis comprising: a sealing element comprising a deformable material and an inner bore forming at least a portion of the fluid communication pathway; a support ring disposed within the bore of the sealing element; a rotatable sealing component coupled to the support ring; a wedge engaged with a downhole end of the sealing element; and an anchoring assembly engaged with the wedge. A method includes positioning a completion assembly in a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation and conveying a frac plug through the completion assembly. The completion assembly may provide a fracturing assembly. The method further includes detecting a wireless signal provided by the frac plug with a sensor included in the fracturing assembly, actuating a sliding sleeve of the fracturing assembly based on detection of the wireless signal and thereby moving the sliding sleeve to expose one or more flow ports, setting the frac plug in the wellbore downhole from the fracturing assembly, conveying a wellbore projectile through the completion assembly, receiving the wellbore projectile with the frac plug, and thereby sealing the wellbore at the frac plug, and injecting a fluid under pressure into the subterranean formation via the one or more flow ports.

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for performing wellbore completion and production operations in a subterranean formation are provided. In some embodiments, the methods include: disposing an electronic initiator sleeve within a closed wellbore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation, wherein the electronic initiator sleeve comprises: a housing having at least one port, a sleeve in a closed position, an actuator, and at least one sensor; increasing fluid pressure within the closed wellbore for a period of time, wherein the sleeve remains in the closed position during the period of time; detecting a signal with the at least one sensor; and actuating the actuator in response to the signal to transition the sleeve from the closed position to an open position.

Electronic initiator sleeves and methods of use

Completion systems and methods to complete a well are disclosed. A method to complete a well includes installing a casing across a plurality of zones of a well. The casing includes an opening and a sleeve positioned inside the casing. The method also includes shifting the sleeve from a first position to a second position to uncover the opening to provide fluid communication from a zone of the plurality of zones to the casing. After shifting the sleeve from the first position to the second position, the method includes flowing a screen assembly having a filter inside the casing and toward the sleeve. The method further includes positioning the filter around the opening and sealing the screen assembly around the opening to confine fluid flow through the opening to flow through the filter.

Completion systems and methods to complete a well

Swell packers comprising swellable metal sealing elements and methods for forming a seal in a wellbore are provided. An example method includes providing a swell packer comprising a swellable metal sealing element; wherein the swell packer is disposed on a conduit in the wellbore, exposing the swellable metal sealing element to a brine, and allowing or causing to allow the swellable metal sealing element to swell.
