A robotic electromechanical surgical instrument includes a housing, an elongated shaft that extends distally from the housing, a wrist assembly supported on the elongated shaft, an end effector coupled to the wrist assembly, a universal joint assembly supported within the wrist assembly, and cables coupled to the wrist assembly. The elongated shaft defines a longitudinal axis. The wrist assembly includes a first joint coupled to a second joint. The universal joint assembly is rotatable to actuate a function of the end effector. The plurality of cables is movable to manipulate the first and second joints to enable the universal joint assembly and the wrist assembly to articulate relative to the longitudinal axis.

A uterine manipulator includes a housing configured to be coupled to an instrument drive unit of a robotic system, a shaft extending distally from the housing, a tip hub pivotably coupled to a distal end portion of the shaft, an articulation disposed within the housing, and a handle operably coupled to either the housing or the shaft. The articulation assembly is configured to pivot the tip hub relative to the shaft and includes a drive cable operably coupled to the tip hub. The articulation assembly is actuatable manually by a user and robotically by the robotic system to pivot the tip hub relative to the shaft. The handle is configured to be manually gripped by a user for manual use of the uterine manipulator.

A robotic electromechanical surgical instrument includes a housing, an elongated shaft that extends distally from the housing, a wrist assembly supported on the elongated shaft, an end effector coupled to the wrist assembly, cables coupled to the wrist assembly, and an electrical cable coupled to the end effector. The wrist assembly includes a first joint coupled to a second joint. The first joint includes a proximal segment defining an arcuate surface and a distal segment defining an arcuate surface. The electrical cable is positioned relative to the proximal arcuate surface and the distal arcuate surface such that during articulation of the wrist assembly the electrical cable rolls off of the distal arcuate surface as the electrical cable rolls on to the proximal arcuate surface and the electrical cable rolls off of the proximal arcuate surface as the electrical cable rolls on to the distal arcuate surface.

An end effector is provided for use and connection to a robot arm of a robotic surgical system including a proximal hub, a distal hub, and a support hub. The distal hub is coupled to two opposing upright supports of the proximal hub about a first pivot axis. The support hub is coupled to two opposing upright supports of the distal hub about a second pivot axis. First and second drive members are coupled to opposing sides of the support hub and a third drive member is coupled to the distal hub. Simultaneous proximal translation of the first drive member and the second drive member causes the distal hub to pivot about the first pivot axis and proximal translation of only one of the first drive member or the second drive member causes the support hub to pivot about the second pivot axis.

The position sensor is configured to identify a location of the cervical cup.

An instrument drive assembly for use with a surgical instrument includes a housing assembly supporting a drive assembly therein, a coupling tube supported at a distal end of the housing assembly and extending distally therefrom, a coupling assembly, and a retention mechanism. The coupling assembly is supported in the housing assembly and is configured to releasably couple to an instrument drive shaft of the surgical instrument, and the retention mechanism is configured to releasably couple to an instrument sleeve of the surgical instrument.
