A vehicle system for a hybrid electric vehicle that implements a transmission clutch support mode during a stop of the vehicle includes a hybrid powertrain, a brake system, a clutch and a controller. The hybrid powertrain includes an internal combustion engine and an electric motor that provides motor torque to a driveline for propelling the vehicle. The brake system selectively provides brake torque to drive wheels based on application of a brake pedal. The clutch opens and closes to engage the powertrain with the driveline. The controller initiates clutch support mode and determines whether a brake pedal release has been detected; commands a brake hold that maintains brake pressure of the brake system subsequent to detection of the brake pedal release; and commands the clutch to move to an engaged position while cancelling the brake hold resulting in concurrent blend-out of the brake torque and blend-in of the motor torque.

System and method for transmission clutch support on hybrid electric vehicle

An electrical regeneration and vehicle deceleration control method includes operating an electrified powertrain in normal or maximum regeneration modes associated with lesser and greater electrical regeneration and vehicle deceleration rates, respectively, receiving an input from a driver of the vehicle indicative of a request to enable the maximum regeneration mode, detecting a status indicative of an availability of the maximum regeneration mode, and in response to receiving the request and based on the status of the maximum regeneration mode and a current vehicle deceleration rate: (i) operating the electrified powertrain in either the maximum regeneration mode or a normal regeneration mode, (ii) selectively outputting a message to the driver indicative of the status of the maximum regeneration mode, and (iii) selectively commanding a hydraulic brake system of the vehicle to generate brake force based on a driver-expected vehicle deceleration rate associated with the operative regeneration mode.

Park control systems and methods operate such that, in response to a request to engage or disengage a park pawl of a vehicle park pawl system, a controller commands a hydraulic brake system to maintain a hydraulic brake pressure therein generated in response to depression of a brake pedal by a driver of the vehicle, when vehicle movement is detected after maintaining the hydraulic brake pressure, commands a vacuum-independent electric brake booster to generate and provide additional hydraulic brake pressure to the hydraulic brake system, commands the park pawl system to engage or disengage the park pawl to/from a transmission output shaft, and after the park pawl is engaged or disengaged to/from the transmission output shaft, commands the hydraulic brake system to release its hydraulic pressure at a defined rate.

Electromechanical park brake strategy for transmission park pawl engagement

A method of controlling a vehicle having a transmission system, an engine system, and a braking system includes detecting a braking condition of the braking system. The braking condition is at least one of a brake temperature being above a predetermined brake temperature limit and a braking load being above a predetermined braking load limit. The method also includes detecting a second condition of at least one of the transmission system and the engine system. The method also includes determining whether the second condition satisfies predetermined criteria. Furthermore, the method includes detecting an absolute vehicle acceleration that is below a predetermined acceleration limit. Moreover, the method includes downshifting from a current gear to a lower gear to thereby cause engine braking when the braking condition is satisfied, the second condition satisfies the predetermined criteria, and the absolute vehicle acceleration is below the predetermined acceleration limit.

Brake assist function

A system and method of operating a vehicle at a driver selected target speed. The system and method configured to identify a target speed based on a position of a gear shift selector and control engine torque and brake pressure to control the vehicle to operate at the target speed. The system and method is further provides manipulating the engine torque and brake pressure of the vehicle in response to a driver's throttle and brake commands to operate at a speed desired by the driver.
