Each fixation member is mounted on a mechanism for setting inclination of the seat back and is formed of a casing so shaped to receive a dagger fixed to each lower end of the seat back armature. The dagger is held within the casing by being wedged with assistance of a part made of a central serrated roller and two lateral smooth extensions of smaller diameters enabling the roller to rotate freely inside openings formed in the casing and to be pushed by at least one spring for wedging the roller between the dagger and said casing.

In the shaped junction portion, each end of the seat and back frame is deformed in order to obtain a flattened portion in a central area conveniently stiffened by thickened areas, raised edges, or protruding outer lips providing thereby for a perfect application of the shaped end of the tube onto a face of a flange of the articulation mechanism, these parts being thereafter connected together, junction studs of each flange of the articulation inclination being used for a respective centering of the part.

The lower profile element is substantially of a U-shaped section and includes wings having each a median zone with a semi-cylindrical channel prolongated by a bent-over portion provided for covering V-bent vertical ends of side branches of the upper profile element. A wing of the lower profile element is cut out in order to form a row of teeth having each a trapezoidal shape prolongated by a rectangular shape in order to cooperate with an L-section latch-comb formed with rectangular openings and freely mounted on a pin which is displacable by a control of the slide. A spring applies to the latch-comb a pressure permitting a passage of teeth of the latch-comb through openings formed in the upper profile element so as to cause a penetration of the latch-comb into the openings between the row of teeth of the lower profile element for latching the upper profile element on the lower profile element.

The safety slide comprises a lower fixed profile and an upper mobile profile. The lower fixed profile is of a U-shaped section and is formed with vertical wings horizontally bent for forming a lower rolling path and an upper guiding path in order to cooperate with balls. Rollers are placed between the vertical wings of the lower fixed profile and bent wings formed on the upper mobile profile with stiffening longitudinal corrugations, and are guided by vertical wings of the mobile upper profile.

The reversible endless screw slides are fixed by their lower fixed elements to the vehicle floor via a base plate. The base plate is mounted under at least one of the two slides and carries a profile section forming a rack cooperating with a reversible endless screw and which can be locked by a second shoe. The movement of the second shoe is controlled by a lever able to pivot against action of springs via another lever fast with an articulated control bow placed between the two slides so as to free the endless screw placed in a casing and cooperating with the rack for forming a mechanical memory for the slides.

A device for increasing the resistance and durability of an articulation mechanism, usable to control the position of a seat, includes a fixed flange rigidly connected with the seat and a movable flange rigidly connected with the movable part of the seat; these two flanges are rotatable with respect to each other by a mechanical assembly with a locking by suitable mechanism. The fixed flange carries, close to its periphery, a fine toothing that is not normally in contact with a fine continuous circular toothing provided on a peripheral circular element of the movable flange, these fine continuous circular toothings coming in contact with each other along a given length when the articulation mechanism is distorted as a consequence of a sudden shock.

The toothings are produced by die stamping of a disc down to a certain depth which provides, in the median plane of the disc, a central cheek against which bear the toothings thereby stiffening each tooth for preventing it from being crushed and deformed.

The device comprises longitudinal adjustment slides for the seat. Each of the slides has a mobile element with an upper face carrying L-shaped supports with vertical wing portions. The vertical wing portion carries at least one mechanism having a control shaft for driving a rocking lever in rotation having a front end which cooperates with an intermediate part rigidly connected to a side portion of a framework of the seat. The rear end of the rocking lever cooperates with a front portion of a second rocking lever which is articulated on the vertical wing portion and has a rear portion which is mounted in a rear portion of the framework of the seat.

A curved slide member having an inner section and an outer section, with one of these inner and outer sections being movable relative to the other, which is fixed. A Z-shaped rack is fixedly mounted on one of the inner and outer sections. A pinion is carried by that inner or outer section on which the rack is not mounted, with the pinion meshing with the rack.

The articulation comprises in combination a fixed flange, a mobile flange, a slidable composite bearing plate and a cam. The fixed flange is provided with a lower recess and the mobile flange is provided with a recess in registration with and larger than the lower recess of the fixed flange. The slidable bearing plate is formed of two parts bearing together along a straight line and having lower toothings cooperating with a corresponding toothing of the mobile flange, the lower toothing of one of the two parts extending in said corresponding toothing while the lower toothing of another one of the two parts extends only in part in said corresponding toothing.

The device enables a trim adjustment of the vehicle seat. An upper side of each upper section of a slide member carries two square members having vertical wings. The vertical wings maintain, at their upper ends either frontwardly or rearwardly of the seat, spindles on which is articulated a shoe-square. One of the two square members carries an articulation iron fitting enabling, by means of a reduction lever rotating with the mobile flange of each articulation, to raise a rear or front shoe-square in order that a seat frame fixed on the shoe-squares is displaceable by a clearance angle delimited according to needs either for a rear part of the seat or for a front part of the seat between a lower dead point and an upper dead point.

The articulation member comprises asymetrically guided bearing plates. A fixed flange is shaped in order to support, by means of sectors, sliding bearing plates having an upper toothing pitch corresponding to pitch of a toothing of a movable flange. The bearing plates are normally pushed back from the toothing by elastic means and have positions which are angularly shifted for two of them and submitted to bias of control means such as a cam. An angular shift of two of the bearing plates is of 120.degree.-.alpha./3 (=240.degree.-2/3.alpha.) with for complement 120.degree.+2/3.alpha., .alpha.being an angle forming a pitch for each tooth of the toothed ring and teeth of the bearing plates.

The rectilinear jack comprises a cage defining an inner chamber at an upper portion while a lower portion of the cage is thinned out in order to form an end lug with a hole for fixation of the cage. The upper portion of the cage is substantially of a lozenge shape for enclosing a cam with two noses placed substantially at 120.degree. with respect to each other. The cam displaces two substantially V-shaped parts bearing on inclined inner walls of the inner chamber while an open lower portion thereof contains trains of rollers kept in engagement with the above parts by a spring. The trains of rollers bear on an upper portion of a jack stem having at least one connection head.
