A manufacturing method of a ski which includes a first preparation step of a solid core made of synthetic foam and a second assembly step of the core with the various component elements of the ski. The first step includes injecting or pouring in a mold having the final shape of the core to be obtained, the components of a hardenable and expandable foam and during which a solid adhesive film having good adhesive properties with the foam as well as with the elements adapted to enter into contact during the second assembly step, is located against the walls of the mold.

Process for improving elasticity of the edge of a ski

A ski for use on snow comprises a longitudinally extending body defining a longitudinal median plane and having a sole substantially perpendicular thereto for slidably engaging a surface. The sole has a central zone lying between front and rear contact lines. The width of the body is established by opposed lateral surfaces, and the thickness of the body is established by an upper wall opposed to the sole. A longitudinal core extends along the length of the body between front and rear ends of the ski and has a width established by lateral side walls that respectively face the lateral surfaces of the body. The thickness of the core is established by upper and lower walls. The ski also includes mechanical resistance elements, internal longitudinal shock absorption members made of a viscoelastic material, and filling elements connecting the resistance elements to the other elements. The internal shock absorption members are in the form of a pair of lateral strips of viscoelastic material, each strip being sandwiched between a lateral surface of the body and the facing lateral wall of the core. The lateral side walls of the core make respective inclination angles A and B with the sole of the body, the inclination angles being a nonconstant function of the length of the core for effecting mechanical shock absorption properties which vary longitudinally along the body.

Ski having improved shock absorption and vibration resistance

Packaging for a ski and a process of packaging the ski. The packaging provides an attractive envelope for the ski and protects the ski from the time it is manufactured until its retail sale, and further, until the ski is first used, i.e., even after the bindings are mounted thereon. The packaging protects and surrounds all parts of the ski and includes a sleeve of thermo-shrinkable plastic material. At areas upon which the ski bindings are to be mounted, zones of reduced resistance to tearing are produced so that, at the place of distribution of the skis, such zones can be conveniently removed without the removal of the remainder of the packaging. The process includes the steps of introducing a ski into a sleeve; closing the ends of the sleeve by, e.g., welding; and passing the ski wrapped in the sleeve through a thermo-shrinking tunnel.
