A high temperature plate heat exchanger with low chromium rejection for fluids above 550&#xb0; C. and a method of cooling a gas is suggested. The heat exchanger comprises a plurality of heat transfer plates made of a chromium-containing alloy, particularly high-temperature stainless steel or Ni-based chromium-containing alloy and having two heat transfer surfaces. The plurality of heat transfer plates comprise at least on one heat transfer surface of the heat transfer plates a chromium absorber coating comprising porous titanium dioxide over at least a first portion of the length of said heat transfer surface. The chromium absorber coatings of two adjacent heat transfer plates are facing each other.

The high temperature titanium-catalyst comprises a body, the body having a hot gas inlet and a hot gas outlet. The body comprises an array of titanium containing catalytic elements, wherein the array of titanium containing catalytic elements is arranged such that hot gas containing an amount of hexavalent chromium Cr(VI) may enter the body at the hot gas inlet, may pass through the array of titanium containing catalytic elements and may leave the body at the hot gas outlet. When the titanium-catalyst is in use, Cr(VI) in the hot gas containing an amount of Cr(VI) reacts with titanium oxide in a surface layer of the titanium containing catalytic elements, whereby the Cr(VI) is reduced to trivalent chromium Cr(III) thus reducing the amount of Cr(VI) in the hot gas containing an amount of Cr(VI).

Catalyst and method for reducing hexavalent chromium Cr(VI)

A fuel cell unit with a plurality of fuel cells defining a longitudinal axis and a main flow direction coaxial to the longitudinal axis. Fuel cell inlets and fuel cell outlets are arranged at opposite ends of the fuel cell unit and in line with the main flow direction. Also, a component comprising first fluid conduits arranged parallel to the main flow direction, the first fluid conduits comprising first fluid inlets and first fluid outlets arranged at opposite ends of the component and in line with the main flow direction. The component is arranged adjacent the fuel cell unit such that at least one of the first fluid inlets and the first fluid outlets of the component are arranged adjacent at least one of the fuel cell outlets and the fuel cell inlets such that a fluid flow may flow substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the apparatus in the first fluid conduits of the component and in the fuel cell unit and when passing from the component to the fuel cell unit or vice versa.

A combined heat exchanging and fluid mixing apparatus including a first conduit () for guiding a cool fluid through the first conduit and a second conduit () for guiding a hot gas through the second conduit. A heat conductive element () is arranged between the first conduit () and the second conduit () for transferring heat from the hot gas to the cool fluid. The apparatus further includes a third conduit () for guiding an exhaust fluid. The third conduit () comprises an exhaust fluid inlet () for introducing an exhaust fluid into the apparatus for mixing of the exhaust fluid with the hot gas and for a chemical reaction of the so formed exhaust fluid/hot gas mixture in the second conduit ().

Combined heat exchanging and fluid mixing apparatus

The heat exchanger includes a cool conduit (), a hot conduit () and a heat exchanging element () arranged between the cool conduit () and the hot conduit (). The heat exchanger also includes at least one further conduit () arranged next to the cool conduit () or to the hot conduit () on a same side of the heat exchanging element () as said respective cool or hot conduit. The further conduit is separated from the respective cool or hot conduit by a separator () that includes two separating elements () arranged at a distance to each other and forming a cavity () between the two separating elements (). The separator restricts a fluid flow into or in the cavity () such as to limit a heat exchange between the further conduit () and the respective cool or hot conduit on the same side of the heat exchanging element ().
