A method of providing power for non-lighting related loads in which operate during daylight hours when a lighting dedicated switched mains network () is switched off is described. The method comprises charging a battery () at night from the mains network when the luminaire is switched on so that the energy/power stored in the battery can be used during the day. A luminaire () comprises a luminaire light engine () connected the mains network (), an AC/DC down converter () also connected to the mains supply so that the battery () is charged during the hours of darkness. The battery () is connected to provide power to a DC non-lighting related load () which is operable both during daylight hours and hours of darkness.

Relating to luminaires

Described herein is a surge protection device for protecting luminaires from high surge voltages. The surge protection device comprises shunt impedance elements positioned in connections between a driver and a light-emitting diode module to direct current generated by differential mode surges and/or common mode surges to ground so that light-emitting diode elements in the light-emitting diode module are not destroyed. Series impedance elements may also be provided between the driver and the shunt impedance elements.

The invention relates to a method for monitoring the integrity of a Doppler transceiver, where a Doppler transceiver comprises a transmitter unit, a receiver unit and a mixer unit, where a signal is transmitted from the transmitter characterized in that the transmitted signal is at least partially coupled into a modulation unit, where the coupled signal is modulated according to certain parameters, and the modulated signal is transmitted to the receiver unit. Monitoring system for a doppler transceiver

The invention relates to a sensor arrangement for scanning a scanning area () comprising a scanner () that generates a scanning field () which is defined between two legs spaced from each other by a scanning angle (A), and which scanner is adapted to control at least one blocking means () for a passageway (), said passageway () being delimited at least in its horizontal extension. The invention is characterized in that a scanner () is mounted at a distance, as viewed in the passage direction (), from the passageway () and thus also from the controlled blocking means (), and that the scanning field () is directed towards the passageway and extends through the passageway ().

Sensor for presence detection

The invention is a planar antenna which comprises a plurality of antennas positioned relative to each other in a predetermined orientation. Each of the antennas is selectively electrically connectable to one or more of the other antennas. A plurality of switches electrically connect the plurality of antennas to each other. The switches are opened and closed by a signal operating at high speed enabling the antenna to act alternately in a first antenna configuration and a second antenna configuration using the same antenna structure. Doppler signals from the first and second antenna configurations are processed to determine the direction of a person or object in relation to a door.

Planar antenna

The invention is a planar antenna which comprises a plurality of antenna elements positioned relative to each other in a predetermined orientation. Each of the elements is selectively electrically connectable to one or more of the other antenna elements. A plurality of switches electrically connect the plurality of antenna elements to each other. The switches are opened and closed by a signal operating at high speed enabling the antenna to act alternately in a first antenna configuration and a second antenna configuration using the same antenna structure. Doppler signals from the first and second antenna configurations are processed to determine the direction of a person or object in relation to a door.
