A solar power generator has: a frame securable to an underwater ground surface; a shaft supported by the frame; a casing floatable on a body of water and movably mounted to the frame via the shaft, the casing rotatable relative to the frame about a first axis defined by the shaft; a photovoltaic cell array secured to the casing; and a motor operatively connected to the casing for rotating the casing about the first axis to orient the photovoltaic cell array towards a sun in function of an azimuth of the sun.

There is described a photodetector comprising a semiconductor material having at least a region substantially depleted of free moving carriers, the photodetector comprising: a substrate of one of n-type and p-type; at least one charge collector along a surface of the substrate and having a doping-type opposite from the substrate; a substrate contact along the surface of the substrate spaced apart from the at least one charge collector to allow current to flow between the at least one charge collector and the substrate contact; and at least one non-conductive electrode positioned along the surface of the substrate in an alternating sequence with the at least one charge collector, and separated from the substrate by an insulator, and adapted to apply an electric potential to the substrate and cause charge carriers generated therein by application of a light source to advance towards the at least one charge collector due to the effects of an electric field, such that the at least one charge collector can measure carrier concentration within the substrate.

Photodetector for determining light wavelengths

The present invention is based on the principle of depth of penetration of electromagnetic rays. In the case of semiconductor mono-crystalline materials, such as silicon, the depth of penetration of a light ray is proportional to its wavelength. Using this phenomenon, the present invention consists of a pixel having three electrodes that can discriminate between the colors red, green, and blue, and thereby reconstruct a color image.

Wavelength detection based on depth penetration for color image sensing

An active pixel sensor imaging device comprises array of pixel cells, each pixel cell providing a pixel output signal to a signal output line associated therewith. Each pixel cell comprises: a photosensor having at least two independent portions, each independent portion having a sensor output; and, a separate readout circuit coupled to the sensor output of each independent portion. Each separate readout circuit has an output coupled to the signal output line and each separate readout circuit is capable of generating an output signal at the output. The outputs of the separate readout circuits for the pixel cell are connected such that the output signals are combined in an additive manner to produce the pixel output signal. Hardware and software correction methods are provided for the correction of defective pixels in monochromatic and color imaging systems.
