Areal spacers for prosthesis parts can be cemented into bones and enable a prosthesis part to be cemented in with a correction of the position of its functional surfaces without producing additional risks during the cementing. Since the spacers themselves consist of hardened bone cement, a secure, homogeneous binding with the fluid bone cement arises. At the same time, these spacers also enable a fine kit-like graduation and an exact positioning of prosthesis parts during cementing.

Kit system for cemented prostheses

The kit contains a metal outer shell (1), an inner shell (2) which can be inserted therein, and fastening elements which can be mounted on the outer shell (1) so that they substantially protrude radially, and which include at least one support (4) and two screw connections (5). The fastening elements, which can be designed with varying support lengths, together with the outer shell (1) form a tripod, which positions the outer shell (1) outside the osseous tissue (6). The outer shell (1) is designed all around with through-holes (17) mounted at different angles (14), which permit the mounting of the screw connections (5) in correspondingly different angular positions with respect to the support (4). The kit, which by simple means enables an optimal adjustment of the acetabulum which can be corrected during implantation if necessary, is provided as a replacement for a missing pelvic part in the region of the hip joint

Kit for an artificial acetabulum

A hipjoint socket having a metal outer shell (1) which may be anchored in the pelvis. The shell (1) includes regions (3) of greater wall thickness (D) alternating in the circumferential direction with regions (4) of less wall thickness (d). The regions (3) of greater wall thickness (D) are made as guideshoes for supporting bodies (11) which may be slid onto them. The supporting bodies (11) are fixed to and, if necessary, positioned exactly on the aforesaid regions (3) with fixing members (13). A number of supporting bodies, (11) which may differ in shape and dimensions, are associated with each shell (1).

Two-part hipjoint socket for anchoring in the pelvic bone

A finger joint prosthesis, made of metal, has a bearing shell (1) attached to a shaft (2) in the metacarpal and a bearing journal (3) attached to a shaft (5) in the phalange. The bearing journal (3) is designed as a barrel (4), which at right angles to its axis (8) in its center comprises a piece (7) connecting it to its shaft (5). The bearing shell (1) is C-shaped and encloses the barrel (4) with clearance to restrict lateral excursion of the phalange shaft (5), whereas an open area formed by the C-shaped shell restricts the flexion at the connecting piece (7). The C-shaped bearing shell (1) can be forced open when the barrel (4) is inserted because its shaft (2) is divided in the longitudinal direction (13) into two halves (14, 15) by a slit-shaped notch (11) so that the shell and the bearing shell can be engaged by moving them radially towards each other.
