A rolling bearing test includes: a hermetic container configured to allow atmosphere gas to be introduced therein; a rotary shaft housed in the hermetic container and fitted into the rolling bearing; a pair of shaft support portions fixed to a fixing portion provided in the hermetic container and configured to rotatably support the rotary shaft at both sides of the rolling bearing in an axial direction, respectively; a drive device configured to drive the rotary shaft; a holding portion configured to hold the outer ring of the rolling bearing to avoid rotation of the outer ring; a first load application mechanism configured to apply an axial load between the inner ring and the outer ring of the rolling bearing; and a second load application mechanism.

A double row ball bearing includes: an outer ring; an inner ring; a plurality of first balls disposed between the outer ring and the inner ring to form a first ball row; a plurality of second balls disposed between the outer ring and the inner ring to form a second ball row having a pitch circle diameter larger than that of the first ball row; an annular first cage having a plurality of first pockets in which the first balls are held; an annular second cage having a plurality of second pockets in which the second balls are held; and an annular portion that covers, together with the outer ring, a portion of each second ball held in the second pocket from the radially outside, the portion being exposed on the outside of the second pocket and oriented radially outward.

A tapered roller bearing according to the present invention, in which the rolling surface of a tapered roller and raceway surfaces of internal and outer rings undergoes crowning. The total crowning amount of that crowning and the crowning amount of each raceway surface and rolling surface are set to preferred values. This allows reduction of the rolling friction of the internal and outer rings and the tapered roller, and the rotation torque of the tapered roller bearing according to the present invention.

A rolling bearing includes an outer ring, an inner ring, balls and a cage. The cage includes an annular portion which is disposed at the end portion in the axial direction thereof, and a plurality of pillar portions which protrude to the coaxial direction from the side surface on the one side in the axial direction of the annular portion and are arranged in the circumferential direction thereof so as to form therebetween pockets each for housing a rolling element, wherein a seal gap for restricting the flowing of lubricant is formed between the first annular portion and one of or both the outer ring and the inner ring not guiding the cage.

In a double row rolling bearing for supporting a pinion shaft, an outer ring is fixed to an inner peripheral surface of an annular wall (case) with its axis disposed horizontally, and an inner ring assembly is fitted on a pinion shaft, and is inserted, together with the pinion shaft, horizontally into the outer ring through a larger-diameter opening of the outer ring, and is mounted in the outer ring. A larger-diameter cage has a drop limitation portion for limiting the vertically-downward movement of the larger-diameter case.

The large diameter cage has an asymmetric shape, a diameter (discharge diameter) of which close to an opening is larger than a diameter (inflow diameter) close to the small diameter cage, and the small diameter cage has a symmetric shape, in which a diameter (inflow diameter) of which close to an opening is equal to a diameter (discharge diameter) close to the large diameter cage.

A tapered roller bearing is designed to have a roller loading ratio in the range of 0.7 to 0.92 and a ratio of roller length to roller diameter in the range of 1.1 to 1.7 whereby oil agitation loss and rolling viscous resistance are reduced for achieving the reduction of running torque. Crownings are provided which are designed to have an outer-ring crowning parameter (=RCO/LRO) in the range of 30 to 150 and an inner-ring crowning parameter (=RCI/LRI) in the range of 50 to 260, provided that RCO denotes the radius of an outer ring crowning, LRO denotes the raceway length of an outer ring, RCI denotes the radius of an inner ring crowning and LRI denotes the raceway length of an inner ring. Thus, the rolling viscous resistance is reduced for achieving the reduction of running torque.

An end faced on an outer side in a radial direction of a small diameter annular portion of a retainer is disposed on an inner side in a radial direction of a pitch conical face of a taper roller and an end face on an inner side in a radial direction of a large diameter annular portion is disposed on an outer side in the radial direction of the pitch conical face. Further, a portion of the small diameter annular portion opposed to a small diameter end face of the taper roller is disposed on the inner side in the radial direction of the pitch conical face and a portion of the large diameter annular portion opposed to a large diameter end face of the taper roller is disposed on the outer side in the radial direction of the pitch conical face.
