A video camera comprises a camera tube, a main optical system including a focusing lens, an afocal system, and a master lens, for directing external light towards the camera tube, an automatic focusing system having a sensor which obtains a focusing information responsive to an incoming light to the sensor, for carrying out an automatic focusing by displacing the focusing lens responsive to the focusing information, a first light separator for reflecting and separating a portion of light passing through the afocal system within the main optical system, a second light separator for reflecting and separating only a portion of the separated light which is separated by the first separator and is required for a detection of the sensor of the automatic focusing system, and for directing the separated light which is separated by the second light separator towards the sensor as the incoming light, and an optical type viewfinder for receiving a light portion which is among the separated light which is separated by the first separator and excludes the separated light which is separated by the second separator.

The image of a subject imaged on the photoelectric conversion surface of a pickup tube of the color television camera is defocused in a given direction by a given amount to make a blur so that beat interference due to specific black and white pattern of the subject does not occur in the reproduced picture. In first and second embodiments of the present invention, at least one optical filter having specific characteristics is employed for defocusing the image, while in a third embodiment, an aperture stop is used to defocus the image by utilizing the aberration of the lens system of the color television camera. The aperture stop of the third embodiment may be used together with the optical filter(s) of the first and second embodiments.

The device according to the present invention comprises a photosensitive element responsive to counter-light which enters into an optical view finder from its eyepiece, a detector responsive to the signal from the photosensitive element for producing a control signal when the intensity of the counter-light exceeds a predetermined value, and a shutter arranged to close in response to the control signal for preventing the counter-light from propagating through the optical system of the view finder to another optical system of a video camera, movie camera or the like. Thus, picture quality of the camera or the like is prevented from deteriorating due to the counter-light entering into the view finder. The shutter may be replaced with an aperture stop or a filter so that the shooter can see an objective image through the view finder, while the amount of counter-light transmitted to the optical system of the camera or the like can be reduced.
