A photoflash apparatus is disclosed in which a flash unit is selectively connected to adapter units through a coupling mechanism which includes a coupling pin in a mounting structure of one unit engaged by a slide plate in a mounting structure of the other unit. The mounting structures are resiliently stressed and interengaged in a manner such as to obtain a highly reliable and tight connection. The coupling mechanism is operable by a door of a battery compartment, or alternatively through outside actuating members, and the mechanism may be locked and unlocked as desired.

Coupling mechanism of photographic flash device

The present invention has two photometric circuits, namely photointegrating circuits, one of them is for day light photography and other is for flash photography. Normally the photointegrating circuit for flash photography is retained inoperatable, but when a flash device is mounted on the camera of this invention, the photointegrating circuit for day light photography is made inoperatable and the photointegrating circuit for flash photography is made operatable.

Camera suitable for flash photography

A computer type electronic photoflash consisting of a main photoflash unit having photoflash emission and photoflash light volume control functions and a plurality of adapters connectable thereto. Each of said adapters is used with a photographic camera for which an electronic photoflash of special make and design is to be used exclusively. Each adapter serves for relaying electrical signals between the camera and the main photoflash unit and has an electric circuit adapted for this purpose. Thus, the number of the adapters is selected to be equal to the number of different descriptions of the photographic cameras for which respective electronic photoflashes of special make and design are to be used exclusively.
