An armrest attaching mechanism wherein armrest attaching brackets are attached to arms arranged at the seat back of a reclining seat. The arm is a member different from the seat cushion and seat back of the seat and the process of attaching the arm to the bracket can be thus made independent of the seat assembly process, thereby making the seat assembly process easy. The bracket is swingably attached to the arm to swing the armrest between its used position and its not-used position.

Armrest-attaching mechanism

A method of producing an outer cushion layer for a seatback is disclosed, which comprises preparing a base cushion layer material which is of a flexible layered structure, stamping out a shaped cushion material from the base cushion layer material, the shaped cushion layer material being of a train of cushion pieces which are connected to one another through integrally connecting bridge portions, bringing mutually facing edge portions of every adjacent two of the cushion pieces into contact with each other having the integrally connecting bridge portions protruded from one side of the shaped cushion material, and stitching the protruded portions and the mutually contacting edge portions of the shaped cushion layer material. With this method, an outer cushion layer having a smoothly corrugated surface is produced.

Method of producing outer cushion layer of seatback

In order to have the handle of an actuating lever settled in a recess of the seat cushion even when the seatback is inclined to its foremost inclined position, there is employed a pivotal lever which is provided with a pin. The pin is slidably engageable with a curved edge of a lock lever and slidably received in an arcuate slot of the actuating lever. Due to free movement of the pin in the slot, the movement of the lock lever caused by the foremost inclination of the seatback is achieved with no interruption with the actuating lever.

Reclining device of seat

Herein disclosed is a reclining device of an automotive seat. The device comprises substantially identical two units which are spaced from each other, each unit having an operation handle for achieving an angular position adjustment of a seatback relative to a seat cushion. An elongate rod extends between the operation handles to effect synchronous pivotal movements of the same. A biasing member extends between the rod and a part of the seat cushion to bias or pull the rod toward the part. With this arrangement, undesired vibration of the rod is suppressed.

Reclining device for automotive seat

Herein disclosed is a reclining device of an automotive seat. The device comprises substantially identical two units which are spaced from each other, each unit having an operation handle for achieving an angular position adjustment of a seatback relative to a seat cushion. An elongate rod extends between the operation handles to effect synchronous pivotal movements of the same. A resilient block constructed of polyurethane foam, sponge rubber or the like is disposed between the rod and a part of the seat cushion to suppress vibration of the rod.

A sliding lock mechanism for a rotary seat assembly includes an operating lever which rotates together with a seat of the assembly, thereby eliminating any operating lever projecting from the back of the seat.

A first reclining back is pivotally connected to a first seat section. The first back is shiftable to a predetermined position in which the first back is coplanar with the first seat section. The first seat section and back constitute a first seat. A first armrest is detachably connected to the first seat. A second reclining back is pivotally connected to a second seat section. The second back is shiftable to a predetermined position in which the second back is coplanar with the second seat section. The second seat section and back constitute a second seat, which is spaced from the first seat. A second armrest is detachably connected to the second seat. The first and second armrests having been detached from the first and second seats can be used to fill the gap between the first and second seats to form a substantially-flat surface in conjunction with the first and second seats when the first and second backs are in their predetermined positions.

Vehicle seat arrangement

A seat structure has an improved means for memorizing the seat position which automatically operates a latching means provided on a seat support structure in response to the tilting movement of the seat back. The seat position memorizing means includes a rotatable plate and means for latching the rotatable plate. The rotatable plate and the latching means are mounted on a base plate of a seat back tilting means, so as to provide a more reliable operation and easy to assemble structure.

Adjustable seat structure for a motor vehicle

A seat device comprises a pair of main seat portions which can be turned backwards and arranged close to each other, a pair of main seat back portions projecting upwardly from the main seat portions, respectively, a pair of auxiliary seat portions attached to both sides of each main seat portion, and a pair of auxiliary seat back portion attached to both sides of each main seat back portion. All the auxiliary seat back portions and the seat portions are movable between an extended position and an unextended position. The seat device is suitable for use in a van type automotive vehicle.
