The present invention relates to a polymer composition comprising: (a) poly(butylene terephthalate); (b) glass fibres; (c) a polymer comprising moieties derived from acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene; and (d) a polymer comprising moieties derived from ethylene, methyl (meth)acrylate and glycidyl (meth)acrylate. Such polymer composition provides a desired balance of chemical resistance, impact strength and tensile strength.

The present invention relates to a thermoplastic composition with improved hydrolytic stability, comprising: 30 to 50 percent by weight of a polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) having a carboxylic end group concentration (CEG) of 40 to 120 mmol/kg and an intrinsic viscosity of 0.63 to 0.68 dl/g as measured in a 60:40 phenol/tetrachloroethane; 0.01 to 0.1 percent by weight of a catalyst; 0.01 to 5 percent by weight of an epoxy chain extender; wherein all weight percents are based on the total weight of the composition.

Polybutylene terephthalate composition with improved hydrolytic stability

Disclosed herein is a polyalkylene terephthalate flame retardant composition, comprising (a) 30 to 60 parts by weight of a polyalkylene terephthalate or a mixture of polyalkylene terephthalates, (b) 0.25 to 2.5 parts by weight of an antidrip agent, (c) 4 to 18 parts by weight of melamine polyphosphate (hereinafter 'MPP'), and (d) 12 to 26 parts by weight of poly(pentabromobenzylacrylate) (hereinafter 'PBBPA'), provided that the combined amount of MPP and PBBPA is at least 18 parts by weight and less than or equal to 30 parts by weight and provided that the composition is substantially antimony free. The invention also provides processes for making such compositions as well as articles derived therefrom.
