Technologies for implementing customized behaviors for content items are provided. An example method can include receiving, from a user account registered with a content management system, a request to access a content item managed by the content management system for the user account, the content item having one or more behaviors configured for an attribute associated with the content item and/or the content item associated with the attribute; obtaining, from a representation of a remote state of content items associated with the user account, metadata defining the attribute associated with the content item; based on the metadata, determining the one or more behaviors configured for the attribute and/or the content item associated with the attribute; and applying the one or more behaviors to the content item.

Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for managing tasks in a content management system. For example, the content management system can collect, aggregate, and/or store task data assigned to a user from across projects and/or content items. The user can select to view tasks for a particular project and/or from across all projects. The content management system can generate a single graphical user interface for presenting the task data associated with the user. The content management system can generate a graphical user interface the allows the user to move tasks from one task status graphical element (e.g., task status container) to another task status graphical element to change the status of a task associated with the user. Thus, the user can quickly and easily view the tasks assigned to the user and update the status of tasks in an easy to use graphical user interface.

Managing tasks in a content management system

One or more embodiments of a synchronization system facilitate selectivity synchronizing digital content items from a collection of digital content items to a local storage of a client device. In particular, one or more embodiments described herein collect and analyze recall data for users of a digital content management system with respect to digital content items to determine synchronization scores for the digital content items. One or more embodiments described herein further include selectively identifying a subset of the digital content items based on the synchronization scores to recommend for synchronization to a local storage of a client device.

Selectively identifying and recommending digital content items for synchronization

Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for managing email attachments in an online content management system. In some implementations, a messaging client can receive input attaching a content item to an electronic message in a message thread. In response to the input, the messaging client can store the content item in a file system managed by an online content management system, generate a link to the content item, and insert the link in the electronic message. The content item can be shared with the recipients of the electronic message such that the content item can be synchronized across recipient devices by the online content management system. The messaging client on each recipient device and/or the sender's device can present representations of the attachments associated with the message thread in a centralized location on a GUI of the messaging client.

Managing message attachments

A first client device associated with a first account of a content management system can receive a first or latest version of a synchronized content item. The first client device can determine differences or the 'diff' between the first version and a second or next-to-latest version of the content item and upload the first version and the diff to the content management system. Upon receiving the first version and the diff, the content management system can store the first version and the diff and download them to the second client device. The second client device can generate a notification when the download finishes and present the notification with an interface element for requesting presentation of the diff. When the second client device detects a selection of the interface element, the second client device can present the diff.
