A sealing device and a sealing structure with which an improvement is achieved in terms of suppressing the infiltration of foreign matter such as muddy water. An elastic seal includes a main lip, a side lip, and an intermediate lip, and a second annular recess formed along an outer peripheral surface of the side lip is recessed in a central axis direction of an inner ring and toward a sealing target space side by a greater depth than a first annular recess formed between the side lip and the intermediate lip.

Sealing device and sealing structure

A sealing device includes a first sealing member and a second sealing member. The first sealing member has a sleeve mounted on an inner member, and a flange. The second sealing member has a tubular portion mounted on the outer member, a disk portion that faces the flange, a radial lip in slidable contact with the sleeve, and a side lip extending from the disk portion and being in slidable contact with the flange. The first sealing member has an annular first protrusion protruding from the flange toward the disk portion. The first protrusion is disposed radially outside the side lip and overlaps the side lip in radial directions. The second sealing member has an annular second protrusion protruding from the disk portion toward the flange. The second protrusion is disposed radially outside the first protrusion and overlaps the first protrusion in radial directions.

Sealing device

A sealing device used for a bearing includes an outer race, an inner race, and rotatable members. The inner race includes a flange that faces an edge face of the outer face. The sealing device includes a cylindrical portion, an extension portion, a first annular protrusion, and a second annular protrusion. The cylindrical portion is fixed to an inside of the outer race. The extension portion extends radially outward of an outer surface of the outer race from an end of the cylindrical portion. A part of the extension portion contacts the edge face of the outer face. The first protrusion extends toward the flange from an outer edge of the extension portion. The second protrusion extends toward the flange from a portion that is a part of the extension portion and is radically inward of the first protrusion.

A surface processing method of a disk member of a sealing apparatus for forming a plurality of fine spiral grooves on a surface of the disk member provided at the sealing apparatus has a grinding member having a plurality of fine projections that is moved to an outer edge side while the grinding member is pressed against the surface of the disk member which relatively rotates around an axis, and the sealing apparatus includes a slinger at which a plurality of fine spiral grooves are randomly formed on another side surface of a flange portion.

Surface processing method of disk member of sealing apparatus, and sealing apparatus

A sealing apparatus which seals an annular gap of a hole into which a shaft is to be inserted, includes a sealing apparatus body to be fitted into the hole, and a slinger to be attached to the shaft. The sealing apparatus body includes a reinforcing ring annular around an axis line, and an elastic body portion attached to the reinforcing ring and annular around the axis line. The slinger includes a flange portion extending toward an outer periphery side and annular around the axis line. The elastic body portion includes an end-face lip extending on one side in an axis line direction, contacting the flange portion from another side in the axis line direction, and annular around the axis line. At least one groove is formed on the other side of the flange portion, and a plurality of projections are formed side by side in a circumferential direction on an inner periphery surface of the end-face lip extending in a spiral manner in a rotation direction of the shaft from the other side to the one side and being formed on an inner periphery side of a slinger contact portion of the end-face lip.

To suppress static leakage in a seal device, a seal lip is configured for sliding contact with a seal flange that includes a thread groove exerting a fluid pumping action at a time of shaft rotation. The seal device prevents sealing fluid on the inner-machine side from leaking to the outer-machine side between a housing and a rotating shaft inserted into a shaft hole on the housing. The seal lip is attached to the inner periphery of the shaft hole and the seal flange is attached to the outer periphery of the rotating shaft. A sliding area in the seal flange in sliding contact with the seal lip is a flat surface with no thread grooves, and has an outer peripheral side area and an inner peripheral side area, which each have a thread groove exerting a fluid pumping action when the rotating shaft rotates.

Seal device

In a sealing device having a combination of a seal lip and a seal flange which slidably come into contact with each other, and having a thread groove in an axial end face of the seal flange, the seal lip installed to a not-rotating housing side slidably comes into contact with an axial end face of the seal flange in a rotating shaft side, and the thread groove achieves a fluid pumping action at the rotating time in an axial end face of the seal flange. The thread groove has an inner peripheral side inclined surface as a part of an inner surface thereof, and an angle formed between an inner peripheral surface of a leading end portion of the seal lip and the inner peripheral side inclined surface is set to a range of 0 degree&#xb1;3 degrees. The sealing device can suppress generation of a static leakage.

The invention provides a sealing device which can suppress occurrence of static leakage and has a seal lip and a seal flange which are slidably in contact with each other, and a screw groove arranged in an end face, in an axial direction, of the seal flange. In the sealing device, the seal lip attached to a non-rotational housing side is slidably in contact with the end face, in the axial direction, of the seal flange on the rotational axis side, and which has the screw groove arranged in the end face, in the axial direction, of the seal flange so as to exert a fluid pumping action during rotation, is characterized in that the screw groove has an inner-circumferential-side inclined surface and an outer-circumferential-side inclined surface as the internal surfaces, and has a groove bottom part in a circular arc cross-sectional shape that interconnects both of the inclined surfaces.
