A diagnostic method, a treatment method and a medical system are capable of selecting reasonably and effectively a favorable order of treatments capable of achieving desired effects when lesion areas in both left and right lower limb arteries are treated in order from an artery of an arm. The method of treating a patient having lesion areas X in both left and right lower limb arteries involves determining the lesion area X to be treated first, based on at least the two pieces of selected comparative information on each of the lesion areas X.

Diagnostic method, treatment method and medical system

A treatment method is disclosed, which includes preparing a catheter assembly by inserting an inner catheter into an outer catheter and screwing a protrusion of the outer catheter into a helical groove of the inner catheter; introducing the catheter assembly into the radial artery along a guide wire; pushing the catheter assembly along the guide wire to a target site in front of a stenosis of a blood vessel; releasing the screwing between the helical groove of the inner catheter and the protrusion of the outer catheter after a distal end of the catheter assembly reaches the target site; and causing the outer catheter to abut on at least a part of wall surfaces of a thoracic aorta and an abdominal aorta while drawing a helix and causing the treatment device to protrude from a distal end of the outer catheter at the stenosis.

A method for inserting a catheter assembly into a vessel using a storage case in which an outer pipe body and an inner pipe body which accommodate a guiding catheter and an inner catheter are connected to each other includes: pulling out the inner catheter from the inner pipe body, inserting the inner catheter into a proximal opening portion of the guiding catheter, causing a locking rotation portion of the inner catheter to rotate and be connected to a locking projection portion of the guiding catheter, assembling the guiding catheter and the pulled-out inner catheter, pulling-out, from the outer pipe body, the guiding catheter which is in a state where the inner catheter is assembled, taking out, from the storage case, a catheter assembly assembled by the guiding catheter and the pulled-out inner catheter, and inserting the catheter assembly into a vessel.

Method for inserting a catheter assembly into a vessel using a storage case

A catheter includes an elongated shaft extending in a longitudinal direction and possessing an outer surface, the shaft possessing a distal end, a proximal end and a proximal portion which includes the proximal end, a transverse direction being perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, the elongated shaft being an elongated tubular body having a lumen formed therein, and a tubular hub fixed by insert molding to the outer surface of the shaft along the proximal portion of the shaft. The hub possesses a residual stress at one predetermined location of the hub that exceeds the residual stress of the hub at each of: (i) a first position distal to the one predetermined location, (ii) a second position proximal to the one predetermined location, and (iii) a third position being at the one predetermined location in the longitudinal direction and spaced apart from the one predetermined location in the transverse direction.

Catheter

A catheter is disclosed having a distal end portion of a shaft with high breaking strength even if a wall thickness of the distal end portion of the shaft is relatively small. The catheter includes an elongated tube shaped shaft. The shaft has an inner layer having a lumen along a longitudinal direction, an outer layer covering an outer peripheral side of the inner layer, and a reinforcement body disposed on the outer peripheral side of the inner layer. The outer layer has a distal outer layer on a distal end portion of the shaft, an intermediate outer layer proximal to the distal outer layer, and a proximal outer layer proximal to the intermediate outer layer. The intermediate outer layer is more flexible and thicker than the proximal outer layer, and a distal end of the reinforcement body is located proximal to a distal end of the intermediate outer layer.

A catheter includes: a catheter shaft; and a hub on a proximal side of the catheter shaft. The catheter shaft includes a shaft inner surface inclined portion at a proximal portion, the diameter of which increases proximally such that the shaft inner surface inclined portion forms an angle with the catheter central axis. The hub includes a first hub inner surface inclined portion continuous from the shaft inner surface inclined portion and inclined at the same inclination angle as the shaft inner surface inclined portion, and a second hub inner surface inclined portion proximal of the first hub inner surface inclined portion. A storage case accommodates a plurality of medical elongated bodies, which are assembled when used, and includes a plurality of pipe bodies wound to form a ring-like shape that are connected to each other in order to accommodate each of the medical elongated bodies, and a package case that collectively accommodates the plurality of connected pipe bodies. At least two of the pipe bodies are disposed side by side so as to overlap each other in a state in which the center axes of winding are deviated, and the pipe bodies have opening portions arranged so that the medical elongated bodies can be assembled within the storage case using no more than two hands.

Storage case

A catheter manufacturing method includes positioning a shaft in a cavity of a mold. The shaft is an elongated tubular body configured to be inserted into a living body. The mold includes a first mold die and a second mold die that contact one another to define a closed space which is the cavity. The method includes injecting a molding material into the cavity from a gate at a position between the proximal end and the distal end of the shaft in the axial direction. The injecting position is offset from the center of the shaft in the transverse direction. The method includes molding a hub onto the shaft by solidifying the injected molding material in the cavity onto the outer surface of the shaft.

An inner catheter is disclosed, which includes an elongated inner shaft to be inserted into a blood vessel; and a hub connected to a proximal end of the inner shaft. The inner shaft forms a first shape at least a part of which is wound in a state where the inner shaft is suspended in a gravity direction, and forms a second shape at least a part of which is wound and in which a length of the inner shaft along the gravity direction is shorter than a length of the inner shaft along the gravity direction in the first shape in a state where the inner shaft is placed on a flat reference plane perpendicular to the gravity direction.

A catheter assembly includes an outer catheter and an inner catheter. The inner catheter has an accommodation unit which can be positioned on a farther distal side than an outer catheter body in a state where an inner catheter body is inserted into the outer catheter body, extends in a proximal direction from the inner catheter body, and can accommodate an outer catheter distal portion so as to surround an outer circumference thereof in a state where the outer catheter distal portion formed at a distal end of the outer catheter body is reduced in diameter. The outer catheter distal portion can be separated from the accommodation unit and can expand in diameter by moving the inner catheter body in a distal end direction relatively with respect to the outer catheter body from a state of being accommodated in the accommodation unit.

Catheter assembly

A catheter is disclosed which has at least a two-layered structure and can suppress decrease in function thereof by suppressing the disorder at an interface between layers during use, and a method for manufacturing the same. The catheter has an inner layer as a tube shaped body made of a thermoplastic resin and an outer layer, as a tube shaped body made of a thermoplastic resin, coming into contact with the outer surface of the inner layer, and has a reinforcement member which is at least partially embedded in the inner layer and includes a gap leading the inner layer toward the radial outside of the catheter. The inner layer has a protrusion which extends in an axial direction of the catheter while protruding from the gap to the radial outside, is positioned on the radial outside of the reinforcement member, and ingrows into the outer layer.
