A device includes an operating portion, a switch and a controller. The device is operable in a first mode in which a predetermined operation is executed and in a second mode of which power consumption is reduced rather than in the first mode, and operates in a state connected to an image forming apparatus. The operating portion operates by an AC voltage supplied from an external power source. The switch supplies the AC voltage to the operating portion in a conductive state and cuts off supply of the AC voltage to the operating portion in a non-conductive state. The controller operates by a DC voltage generated from the AC voltage by a power source provided in the image forming apparatus. The controller controls to cause the switch to be in the non-conductive state so as to stop operation of the operating portion when the device shifts from the first mode to the second mode.

A power supply device includes a transformer including a primary winding, a secondary winding and an auxiliary winding, first, second and third circuits, and a switch. The first circuit in which a first capacitor and a first rectifier are connected in series is connected to the primary winding in parallel. The switch of which one end is connected to one end of the primary winding. The second circuit in which the auxiliary winding and a second rectifier are connected in serial is connected between a connecting point, to which the first capacitor and the first rectifier are connected, and the other end of the switch. The third circuit including a resistor and a third rectifier is connected to a gate of the switch. In the third circuit, a resistance value in a direction where a current flows into the gate of the switch is smaller than that in a direction where the current flows out of the gate.

A printer system includes a first apparatus including a first voltage source for converting an inputted AC voltage to a first DC voltage and for outputting the converted first DC voltage, and a first controller operable by a voltage based on the first DC voltage outputted from the first voltage source; and a second apparatus including a second voltage source for converting an inputted AC voltage to a second DC voltage and for outputting the converted second DC voltage, and a second controller operable by a voltage based on the first DC voltage outputted from the first voltage source. The second apparatus includes a first switching portion for switching a state thereof between a connection state in which the AC voltage is supplied to the second voltage source and a non-connection state in which supply of the AC voltage is cut off.

The power supply is capable of operating in a first state and a second state having a consumption power lower than a consumption power of the first state. A feeding apparatus includes a rotary member unit having a feeding rotary member to feed a recording material and a separating rotary member which forms a nip portion with the feeding rotary member, an output unit, and a control unit. Where a single recording material is fed to the nip portion, the separating rotary member is rotated in a predetermined direction by the single recording material and, where recording materials are overlapped with one another and fed to the nip portion, the separating rotary member rotation is stopped or rotated in a direction opposite to the predetermined direction to separate the overlapped recording materials. The output unit outputs a state signal in accordance with a separating rotary member rotation state. The control unit obtains a rotation speed of the separating rotary member from the state signal output and determines that the rotary member unit is replaced with a new product.

Feeding apparatus

The power supply apparatus includes a switching element connected to a primary winding of a transformer to which an input voltage is applied; a feedback unit configured to output a first feedback voltage according to an output voltage, the output voltage induced in a secondary winding of the transformer and output to a load; a current detection unit for detecting a current flowing to the switching element and output a second feedback voltage according to the current detected; a limiting unit for limiting the first feedback voltage so that the current flowing to the switching element is below a predetermined current value; an output unit for outputting a driving signal for the switching element based on the first feedback voltage limited by the limiting unit and on the second feedback voltage; and a control unit for controlling the switching element according to the driving signal output from the output unit.

Power supply apparatus and image forming apparatus

The feeding apparatus includes a pick-up roller, a feed roller, a separation roller which forms a separation nip portion with the feed roller, an encoder, and an engine control unit. The engine control unit obtains variation in rotation speed of the separation roller based on a detection result of the encoder, and determines a life condition of the separation roller based on the obtained variation in rotation speed of the separation roller.

A feeding apparatus includes a feeding rotary member, a conveying rotary member pair, an output unit, a detection unit, and a control unit. The conveying rotary member pair includes first and second rotary members. The control unit stops a feeding operation when the detection unit does not detect the recording material by the time when a threshold time has elapsed after an operation of feeding a recording material is stated. The control unit determines that the recording material is stopped at a position on an upstream side relative to the nip portion in the feeding direction in a case where a rotation speed of the second rotary member, indicated by a state signal output from the output unit at least in a period of time from when the recording material reaches the nip portion to when the feeding operation is stopped, is faster than a threshold speed.

An image forming apparatus includes an accommodation unit, feeding, conveying, and separating members, and detecting, control, image forming, and regulating units. The conveying member conveys a fed recording material. The separating member forms a nip and separates recording materials. The detecting unit detects that the recording material has been fed to the nip. The feeding member starts feeding an accommodated recording material and, where a recording material is fed to the nip, causes the feeding to be finished. An image is formed on a fed recording material. The regulating unit regulates an end on an upstream side. The control unit measures a period from a recording material feeding to detection that a recording material is fed to the nip. Based on the measured period, information is output indicating that a position of the regulating unit is deviated from a position according to a size of the accommodated recording materials.
