Some embodiments described herein relate to head-mounted displays having an optical assembly and a support structure. The optical assembly can include the display, lenses, sensors, electronics and similar components. In this way, fragile and/or expensive components can be concentrated in the optical assembly. The support structure can include a faceplate and straps configured to hold the head-mounted display to the user's head. The optical assembly can be removeably coupled to the support structure. Support structures can be interchangeable with optical assemblies such that one support structure can be configured to be removeably coupled to all, most, or several optical assemblies.

Methods and systems for generating a magnification region in output video images

Images are overlaid using a personal viewing device, such as a head mounted display. The personal viewing device includes a mount, an electronic display, a lens, and an electronic circuit. The electronic display, lens, and electronic circuit are physically attached to the mount. The electronic display and lens are positioned by the mount so that an eye views the electronic display through the lens. The electronic circuit overlays a first image with a second image to produce an overlaid image. The electronic circuit then displays the overlaid image on the electronic display. The electronic circuit can include an image generating device. The image generating device can generate the first image and/or the second image. The image generating device can be a video player or a processor. The personal viewing device can further include a wireless transceiver attached to the mount.

Systems and methods for personal viewing devices

An apparatus, methods and systems to provide a personal viewing device configured to display an image. The personal viewing device configured to be worn by a user. At least one sensor coupled to the personal viewing device. At least one camera coupled to the personal viewing device and facing outwardly with respect to the personal viewing device.
