In an example, a method includes obtaining, in a probing Wi-Fi device a transmit opportunity (TXOP) on a Wi-Fi channel. The method also includes transmitting a probe packet from the probing Wi-Fi device to a receiving Wi-Fi device during the TXOP with a first antenna. The method includes receiving first feedback responsive to transmitting the probe packet with the first antenna. The method also includes transmitting the probe packet from the probing Wi-Fi device to the receiving Wi-Fi device during the TXOP with a second antenna. The method includes receiving second feedback responsive to transmitting the probe packet with the second antenna. The method also includes setting, by the probing Wi-Fi device, a transmission parameters set and a selected antenna based at least in part on the first feedback or the second feedback.

Rate and antenna selection using single TXOP

A device includes a BLUETOOTH low energy (BLE) link layer (LL) controller configured to maintain links of a link cluster between the device and one or more connected devices that share parameters associated with the link cluster and process packets associated with the links at a LL. The links of the link cluster are established according to a BLE communication standard. The parameters include coordination parameters for connection events on the links and synchronization parameters for packet transmission in the connection events. The device further includes BLE physical link (PHY) interfaces coupled to the BLE LL controller and configured to exchange the packets in the connection events on the links, interface with the BLE LL controller, and process the packets at a PHY layer according to the parameters.

Over-the-air BLE link-cluster operation

A device configured to communicate via a Wi-Fi channel obtains a contention-free access period on the Wi-Fi channel. The device sends a first probe packet to a receiving Wi-Fi device during the contention-free access period, with at least one parameter of a Wi-Fi transmitter of the Wi-Fi transceiver set to a first setting, and waits for a first reply period. The device sends a second probe packet to the receiving Wi-Fi device during the contention-free access period, with the at least one parameter of the Wi-Fi transmitter set to a second setting, where the second setting is based on a result of the first reply period, and waits for a second reply period. The device sets the at least one parameter of the Wi-Fi transmitter to a data packet setting, where the data packet setting is based at least on a result of the second reply period.

Channel assessment in a single contention-free channel access period

A device includes a BLUETOOTH low energy (BLE) link layer (LL) controller configured to maintain a link cluster including multiple links between the device and one or more connected devices that share parameters associated with the link cluster and to process data associated with the links of the link cluster at a LL. The links of the link cluster established according to a BLE communication standard. The device further includes or is coupled to BLE physical link (PHY) interfaces coupled to the BLE LL controller and configured to exchange the data on different links of the link cluster at different respective signal frequencies, interface with the BLE LL controller, and process the data at a PHY layer.
