A computerized system and method for generating an application structure for an application in a computerized organization having a plurality of components. An implementation includes generating the application structure for the application by including, in the application structure, applicative components and connections between applicative components identified using a first entry point. In an implementation, the identification of the applicative components and the connections between applicative components includes applying a first set of patterns against a first component associated with the first entry point to identify a first applicative component of the applicative components and a first connection of the connections, the first connection including a second entry point. The applicative components and the connections between applicative components can be recursively identified.

System and method for generating an application structure for an application in a computerized organization

A computerized method for storing a representation of at least one application in a computerized organization, the method comprising determining a structure of at least one application in a computerized organization; and using a processor for generating, and storing, a skeleton characterization of the structure of the application including storing information, characterizing at least one applicative component identified, that is considered stable over time and not storing information, characterizing at least one applicative component identified, that is considered unstable over time.

System and method for storing a skeleton representation of an application in a computerized organization

Systems and methods for skeleton-based discovery of an application in a computer network are provided. An implementation of the system includes a processor configured to generate a template for an application topology of the application based on a structure determined by an initial discovery, modify the template during a traversing of the template, and generate a display of the template indicating states of the application according to the impact rules. The application topology is multi-tiered and includes nodes associated with elements of the application and dependencies between the nodes. The states include at least one of an actual state or a scenario state.

System and method for determining a topology of at least one application in a computerized organization

A computerized method for determining a structure of at least one application in a computerized organization, the method comprising receiving at least one entry point including an identification of a virtual location on a computer network; for each entry point, receiving a determination of an individual applicative component that processes data arriving through that entry point; identifying at least some communicating entry points through which the first applicative component communicates with additional applicative components; and for each of the at least some communicating entry points, using a processor for determining the applicative component that processes data arriving through that communicating entry point; and providing at least a portion of a structure including: applicative components associated with the application and information with regard to which of the applicative component communicates with which.

Methods and apparatus for managing packets in a packet switched network include, in at least one aspect, a device including: an input to receive a packet from one of a plurality of network devices, the plurality of network devices configured to communicate with one or more others of the network devices using a plurality of packets; and circuitry configured to control packet switching of the plurality of packets, at least one packet including: a switch tag including a tag portion embedded with switching information and an extended tag portion embedded with additional switching information, the switching information and the additional switching information configured to control a switching pattern associated with the at least one packet.

Method and apparatus for managing packets in a packet switched network

An integrated circuit includes a first port configured to receive packets and a packet definition. The packets are transmitted from a network to the integrated circuit. One of (i) the packet definition is transmitted from a central processing unit of a host to the integrated circuit and (ii) the packets include the packet definition. The packet definition identifies characteristics of a packet. A forwarding engine is configured to (i) receive the packets from the first port and (ii) forward the packets to a second port. A packet generator is configured to (i) receive the packet definition and (ii) originate a test packet according to the packet definition. A medium access controller is configured to test the network by transmitting the test packet to the network.

A method, apparatus, and computer program media for a network device comprises a processor; a forwarding engine comprising a plurality of ports to receive packets of data, wherein the packets comprise control packets each addressed to the processor and comprising a priority code representing one of M priorities; N queues each associated with one or more of the M priorities; a decoder to enqueue each of the control packets to one of the N queues according to the priority code in the control packet and a mapping between the N queues and the M priorities; and a scheduler to pass the control packets from the n queues to the processor according to a priority scheme for the N queues.

Priority scheme for control traffic in network switches

An apparatus includes a network port and a switch management processor. The network port receives packets over a network, where the packets include a management packet and a trigger packet. The switch management processor executes a command in selected management packets received over the network when a trigger pattern generated based on the trigger packet matches a bit pattern stored in memory. The bit pattern is stored in the memory during a predetermined period after the management packet is received. The predetermined period is selected based on a desired security level.

Remote network device management

Systems, methods, and computer program products for modifying standard VLAN tags to perform network packet switching are described. In some implementations, a data packet can be received, and the data format of the data packet can be determined. Then, switching information associated with data package management is generated based on the data format of the data packet. The data packet can be modified using the generated switching information. For example, the modified data packet can be extended by a predetermined length to accommodate additional switching information.

A network device includes a plurality of ports configured to transmit and receive packets of data. A memory is configured to store a routing table. A forwarding engine is configured to transfer the packets of data between the plurality of ports based on the routing table. A processor is configured to define a routing interface. The routing interface comprises a group of the plurality of ports. The processor is configured to assign a media access control (MAC) address to the routing interface. The processor is configured to modify the routing table to direct each packet of data having the media access control (MAC) address as a destination address to a port in the routing interface.
