A camera includes a cover, a camera lens provided behind the cover, and a shield configured to block at least a portion of light entering the camera lens through the cover, wherein the shield is movable from a retracted position at which the shield does not block the at least a portion of light entering the camera lens through the cover, to an inserted position at which the shield position blocks the at least a portion of a field of view of the camera lens and is positioned between the cover and the camera lens.

A dome camera includes a spherical cover, a camera lens provided inside the spherical cover and a darkening unit arranged between the spherical cover and the camera lens so as to partially block light entering the camera lens and to suppress image quality deterioration. The camera lens is rotatable in a tilt direction, and when a tilt angle of the camera lens exceeds a predetermined threshold angle, the darkening unit is inserted between the spherical cover and the camera lens.

A camera apparatus includes: a cover that has transparency; a rotatable camera unit that is provided inside the cover; a shade plate portion that includes a shade plate capable of partially shading light incident on the camera unit, wherein a position of the shade plate is rotatable; a control unit that is configured to control rotation of the camera unit and the position of the shade plate; and a memory that stores posture information including an imaging direction of the camera unit and positional information on the shade plate in association with each other. The control unit controls a direction of the camera unit based on the posture information stored in the memory and controls the position of the shade plate based on the positional information on the shade plate stored in the memory.

Camera apparatus and method of controlling camera apparatus

A dome camera includes a camera lens capable of rotating in a tilt direction, and a dome cover for covering the camera lens. A tilt rotation axis of the camera lens is positioned more in a zenith direction than a center of the dome cover, and a polarizing filter or a partially darkening filter is inserted on an optical axis of the camera lens as a tilt angle of the camera lens becomes larger than a predetermined threshold angle. According to this dome camera, both securing of a wide field of view and reduction in the image quality deterioration may be achieved when capturing an image in a direction at a large tilt angle (a direction near the horizontal direction).

A camera unit () of a camera device includes: a lens unit () having a size according to zoom magnification; a tilt chassis () that rotatably supports the lens unit () in a tilt direction; and a pan chassis () that rotatably supports the lens unit () in a pan direction through the tilt chassis (). The tilt chassis () has a plurality of attaching positions to the pan chassis (). Additionally, the tilt chassis () is attached to the pan chassis () at an attaching position of the plurality of attaching positions according to the size of the lens unit (). As a result of this, cost, time, and labor required for development of the chassis can be reduced, and development efficiency of the chassis is improved.
