The present invention relates to [1] a colored fine particle dispersion containing colored fine particles and a neutralizing agent, in which the colored fine particles are produced by subjecting a monomer mixture containing an acid group-containing polymerizable monomer to emulsion polymerization in the presence of a pigment; the neutralizing agent contains a water-soluble amine compound; and the colored fine particle dispersion has a pH value of from 6 to 11, and [2] a process for producing a colored fine particle dispersion containing colored fine particles and a neutralizing agent, said process including the step 1 of subjecting a monomer mixture containing an acid group-containing polymerizable monomer to emulsion polymerization in the presence of a pigment to obtain a colored fine particle dispersion (p); and the step 2 of mixing the colored fine particle dispersion (p) and the neutralizing agent containing a water-soluble amine compound to obtain the colored fine particle dispersion having a pH value of from 6 to 11. The colored fine particle dispersion of the present invention is used in a water-based ink so that the resulting water-based ink is excellent in ejection stability upon evaporation of water from the ink system while maintaining excellent storage stability thereof, and it is possible to obtain printed materials that are excellent in alcohol resistance even when printed on a low-water absorbing printing medium.

Colored particle dispersion

Colored fine-particle dispersion for ink-jet printing. The colored fine-particle dispersion is produced by subjecting dispersion including pigment, polymerizable monomer, polymerizable surfactant, and water to emulsion polymerization, including dispersing a mixed solution including the pigment, the polymerizable surfactant, the water, and an organic solvent to prepare a dispersion 1; removing the organic solvent from the dispersion 1 to prepare a dispersion 2; and subjecting the dispersion 2 and the polymerizable monomer to emulsion polymerization to obtain the colored fine-particle dispersion. The process for producing the ink includes mixing the obtained colored fine-particle dispersion and an organic solvent B. The colored fine-particle dispersion includes colored fine-particles with average particle size of 10 to 300 nm. The colored fine-particle dispersion may be used in a water-based ink for ink-jet printing, and provides high-gloss printed characters or images excellent in rub fastness when printed on a low-water absorbing recording medium.

Method for manufacturing colored particle dispersion

The present invention provides [1] a process for producing a colored fine particle dispersion including the step of subjecting a dispersion including a pigment, a polymerizable monomer, a surfactant, a polymerization initiator and water to emulsion polymerization, the pigment being a pigment having a quinacridone skeleton; the surfactant being an anionic or nonionic surfactant; and the polymerization initiator including an anionic or nonionic azo-based compound, [2] a colored fine particle dispersion including colored fine particles having an average particle size of not less than 10 nm and not more than 300 nm, and [3] a process for producing a water-based ink for ink-jet printing, including the step of mixing the obtained colored fine particle dispersion and an organic solvent B.

A colored fine particle dispersion including emulsified particles including a pigment and a polymer containing a constitutional unit derived from a compound (A) represented by formula (I) and a constitutional unit derived from a polymerizable monomer component including a hydrophobic vinyl-based monomer: wherein BO is a butyleneoxy group; EO is an ethyleneoxy group; M is a cation; m represents an average molar number of addition of BO and is a number of not less than 1 and not more than 10; and n represents an average molar number of addition of EO and is a number of not less than 4 and not more than 25; a process for producing the colored fine particle dispersion; a water-based ink for ink-jet printing including the colored fine particle dispersion; and a use of the colored fine particle dispersion as a colorant for a water-based ink for ink-jet printing.

Colored microparticle dispersion

A colored fine particle dispersion including emulsified particles including a pigment and a polymer containing a constitutional unit derived from a compound (A) represented by the following general formula (I) and a constitutional unit derived from a polymerizable monomer component including a hydrophobic vinyl-based monomer: wherein BO is a butyleneoxy group; EO is an ethyleneoxy group; M is a cation; m represents an average molar number of addition of BO and is a number of not less than 1 and not more than 10; and n represents an average molar number of addition of EO and is a number of &#x2267;4 and &#x2266;25; a process for producing the colored fine particle dispersion; a water-based ink for ink-jet printing including the colored fine particle dispersion; and a use of the colored fine particle dispersion as a colorant for a water-based ink for ink-jet printing.

The present invention relates to a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet including a dye receiving layer formed of a resin composition for thermal transfer image-receiving sheets, wherein said resin composition includes a resin composition (A) containing a graft polymer (A0) which contains a main chain segment (A1) formed of a polyester resin obtained by polycondensing an alcohol component containing an alkyleneoxide adduct of 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane in an amount of 50 mol % or more with a carboxylic acid component, and a side chain segment (A2) formed of an addition polymer-based resin, and has a glass transition temperature of 50&#xb0; C. or higher; and a resin composition (B) containing a resin (B0) and having a glass transition temperature lower by from 10 to 80&#xb0; C. than the glass transition temperature of the resin composition (A), and to a process for producing the thermal transfer image-receiving sheet.

Thermal transfer image-receiving sheets

The present invention relates to a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet including a dye receiving layer which contains a resin (A) including a graft polymer containing a main chain segment (A1) formed of a polyester resin having an acid value of from 5 to 40 mgKOH/g and a side chain segment (A2) formed of an addition polymer-based resin, wherein the segment (A1) is obtained by polycondensing an alcohol component containing an alkyleneoxide adduct of 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane in an amount of 60 mol % or more with a carboxylic acid component, and the segment (A2) contains a constitutional unit derived from an aromatic group-containing addition-polymerizable monomer in an amount of 85% by weight or more.

The present invention relates to a resin for use in a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet which is excellent in dyeability with dyes and releasability of the sheet, a resin dispersion using the resin, and a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet. The resin for a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet is obtained by addition polymerizing and condensation polymerizing (a) raw monomers of a polyester, (b) a raw monomer of an addition polymer-based resin containing at least one compound selected from the group consisting of styrene and styrene derivatives and (c) at least one dually reactive monomer selected from the group consisting of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid and derivatives of these acids, wherein the raw monomers (a) of a polyester include an alcohol component containing 80 mol % or more of an alkyleneoxide adduct of 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane.

The present invention relates to a polyester for thermal transfer image-receiving sheets which includes a polyester A produced from an alcohol component containing 50 mol % or more of an alkyleneoxide adduct of 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane and an acid component containing 80 mol % or more of an aliphatic carboxylic acid and/or an alicyclic carboxylic acid as a total amount thereof, and a polyester B produced from an alcohol component containing 80 mol % or more of the alkyleneoxide adduct of 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane and an acid component containing 10 to 35 mol % of a trivalent or higher valent aromatic polycarboxylic acid; a resin dispersion containing the polyester; a process for producing the resin dispersion; a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet using the polyester; and a process for producing the thermal transfer image-receiving sheet.
