To efficiently estimate and detect a tool life of a machine tool while lowering an occupation ratio in a data band of a communication line between a machine tool and an upper-level controller, a management apparatus or the like. A machine tool to be managed by a production management apparatus includes a motor for moving one of a workpiece to be machined and a tool for performing a machining operation, an amplifier for driving the motor, a servo controller for controlling the motor via the amplifier based on a notification of a predetermined machining operation, and an NC device for notifying the servo controller of the predetermined machining operation. The servo controller obtains servo data representing a load on the amplifier, performs a first processing for compressing the servo data, and transmits the compressed data to the NC device.

A controller of a motor that drives a driven body, the controller includes: a command generating unit that generates a movement command for the motor; an inertia estimating unit that acquires feedback information of the motor and estimates an inertia on the basis of a predetermined estimation equation; a difference computing unit that computes a change in the inertia changed with machining based on the movement command of the command generating unit; and a comparing unit that compares a difference between the estimation results before and after the machining of the driven body estimated by the inertia estimating unit and the change in the inertia computed by the difference computing unit. the estimation equation of the inertia estimating unit is corrected on the basis of a comparison result of the comparing unit so that the difference between the estimation results matches a computation result obtained by the difference computing unit.

The production management device acquires data on a machine type and an operation condition of each of the plurality of machine tools from the slave control device. The production management device selects, on the basis of the data, an alternative machine tool to be substituted for a specific machine tool from among the plurality of machine tools. Furthermore, the production management device substitutes the alternative machine tool for the specific machine tool.
