A combined battery () comprising a plurality of flat-type cells (A toF) by laminating thereof so that polarity of electrode tabs (A toF andA toF) is alternately set, wherein welding parts to connect in series the flat cells themselves, to compose a set when all the flat-type cells (A toF) are laminated, are separated at a plurality of positions of the combined battery, and the flat-type cells having such a structure that all the flat-type cells are electrically connected in series by welding each of the welding parts.

Assembled battery and manufacturing method thereof

To provide a high capacity thin-type secondary battery suitably formed into a module and having no thickness fluctuation, excellent quality stability, and excellent heat radiation properties, by using a sheet-like separator having expansion anisotropy due to penetration of an electrolytic solution. A method of producing a thin-type secondary battery includes the steps of: sandwiching a sheet-like separator having expansion anisotropy due to penetration of an electrolytic solution, by a sheet-like electrode pair; inserting the separator sandwiched by the electrode pair and injecting the electrolytic solution, into a thin-type outer wrapper having an opened portion; penetrating the electrolytic solution into the separator without fixing motion of the separator in a maximum expanding direction and in a state where the maximum expanding direction of the separator and a penetrating direction of the electrolytic solution are substantially parallel to each other; and sealing the opened portion into a tightly sealed state.

Thin-type secondary battery and method of producing the same, and secondary battery module

A battery pack control apparatus for a battery pack that includes a plurality of unit cells electrically connected in series prevents overdischarging based on the total voltage of the battery pack, as opposed to being based on the separate voltages of the individual unit cells. When a total voltage of the battery pack corresponds to a lowest voltage of one of the plurality of unit cells decreasing to a predetermined threshold at which overdischarging would begin to occur, power supply to a load from the battery pack is at least partially restricted.

Battery control apparatus and method for preventing overdischarge

A battery pack having a plurality of electrically connected unit cells and configured so that the cells degrade at similar rates is provided. The battery pack may comprise a first unit cell and a second unit cell, wherein a temperature of the second unit cell is lower than the first unit cell. A condition of the first cell, such as states of charge or an open circuit voltage is set so that the condition of the first unit cell is less than a corresponding condition of the second unit cell. The unit cells may be thin battery cells stacked in a thickness direction of the thin battery cells, and the first unit cell may be located on an inner side of the second unit cell as viewed in a stacked direction. A temperature detecting unit may detect a temperature of each of the first and second unit cells and a charge control unit may be configured to control charging of the plurality of unit cells according to the temperatures of the first and second unit cells. With this configuration, even when the temperatures of the unit cells are not uniform, the rates of deterioration of the unit cells are equalized as much as possible.

Battery pack, method of manufacturing battery pack, and method of controlling battery pack

A secondary cell module and the method of its production, which comprises a combination cell formed by connecting the positive and/or the negative electrode terminal(s) of multiple secondary cells in series and/or in parallel with each other through a metal bus-bar and a casing which contains the combination cell, wherein the secondary cell is formed in a sheet shape and comprises sheet-type internal electrode couple, electrolytic solution and a flexible outer wrapper of envelope type which contains them in a sealed state. The secondary cell module is of a simple structure and it can be small-sized and light-weighted or thin-shaped as necessary and the heat which generates inside the cell can be efficiently diffused to outside, thereby enabling the production of cells of high capacity with a high degree of freedom in designing its shape as well as supreme productivity.

Secondary cell module and method of its production

A battery includes a battery enclosure (), a power-generating unit () accommodated in the battery enclosure (), positive and negative terminal electrodes (). The battery enclosure () is composed of a laminate film compounded of metal and a polymer material, and has a rectangular shape. The power-generating unit () includes positive electrode collectors (), negative electrode collectors () and separators (). The positive and negative terminal electrodes () have dimensions substantially equal to those of the positive and negative electrode collectors (), respectively. Further, the positive and negative terminal electrodes () protrude from mutually different sides of the battery enclosure (). The positive terminal electrode () is formed by protruding the positive electrode collectors () from the battery enclosure () in a state where end portions of the positive electrode collectors () are mutually stacked. The negative terminal electrode () is formed by protruding the negative electrode collectors () from the battery enclosure () in a state where end portions of the negative electrode collectors () are mutually stacked.

Battery formed of a stack of substantially rectangular electrodes

A battery comprises at least two unit cells. Each of the at least two unit cells is provided with an outer sheath film composed of polymer-metal composite material, a positive-electrode current collector, a negative-electrode current collector, a separator disposed between the positive-electrode current collector and the negative-electrode current collector, one positive electrode tab to which the positive-electrode current collector is connected and protruding from a first sealed portion of the outer sheath film, one negative electrode tab to which the negative-electrode current collector is connected and protruding from a second sealed portion of the outer sheath film, a first polymer layer disposed between the positive electrode tab and the outer sheath film, and a second polymer layer disposed between the negative electrode tab and the outer sheath film.

Battery and related method

A power supply unit comprises a solid electrolyte battery constituted by using a solid electrolyte alone and a liquid electrolyte battery constituted by using an electrolytic solution connected in parallel to each other. Since the solid electrolyte battery is primarily utilized at high temperature and the liquid electrolyte battery is primarily utilized at low temperature, a power supply unit can achieve durability characteristics at high temperature equivalent to those of a power supply unit constituted of solid batteries alone and output characteristics at low temperatures equivalent to those of liquid electrolyte batteries alone, is provided.

A battery includes a plurality of flat type batteries and a connector member that electrically connect the plurality of flat type batteries to one another. Each of the plurality of flat type batteries is provided with an outer sheath having a composite laminate film, an electric power generating component, which includes a positive electrode plate, a separator and a negative electrode plate and is accommodated in the outer sheath by compelling at least a part of a circumference of the outer sheath to be joined by thermally welded portions, a positive-electrode terminal lead conductive with the positive electrode plate and held between the thermally welded portions, and a negative-electrode terminal lead conductive with the negative electrode plate and held between the thermally welded portions. At least one of the positive-electrode terminal lead and the negative-electrode terminal lead has a surface covering layer made of a metal different from that of its terminal mother material.

Battery having a terminal lead surface covering layer and related method

A multilayer battery cell comprises an ion-conductive separator film. A positive electrode layer is disposed on one surface of the separator film. A negative electrode layer is disposed on the other surface of the separator film. A first conductive layer is disposed on the positive electrode layer and electrically connected to the same. A second conductive layer is disposed on the negative electrode layer and electrically connected to the same. The positive and negative electrode layers and the first and second conductive layers are each produced by employing a spraying process.
