A highly reliable rotating electric machine is provided in which the amount of charge discharged by partial discharge can be reduced while the machine is downsized by decreasing the thickness of insulation for coils, and it is possible to prevent paper flapping in coil end portions because of rotating wind produced by rotation of the rotor. The foregoing machine includes a stator coil including a coil conductor and a main insulation layer covering the coil conductor surface, a slot core which encloses the stator coil, and a first insulating paper sheet which is wound around the stator coil, adjoining the slot core, and a second insulating paper sheet which is wound around the stator coil, adjoining the main insulation layer, both the insulation paper sheets being placed between the stator coil and the slot core, wherein the first insulating paper sheet has a semiconductive layer abutting on the slot core and the second insulating paper sheet has a semiconductive layer located abutting on the stator coil, and an end portion of the second insulating paper sheet is exposed in an opening portion of the slot core.

Rotating electric machine having coils insulated by paper sheets with semi-conductive layers

A dynamo-electric machine with discharge reduced in a core slot without relation to a position of a stator coil placed in the core slot is provided. For that purpose, the present invention includes: a stator coil including a coil conductor and a main insulation layer covering a surface of the coil conductor; a core slot containing the stator coil; a first semiconducting layer that is placed between the stator coil and the core slot and is wrapped around and in contact with the main insulation layer; and a second semiconducting layer that is wrapped around the stator coil and in contact with the core slot, with the second semiconducting layer overlaid on the first semiconducting layer. The first semiconducting layer has a surface facing toward the core slot and a release layer is formed on the surface facing toward the core slot. The first semiconducting layer has electric connection with an inner peripheral surface of the core slot via the second semiconducting layer.

There is provided a rotary electric machine that ensures improving a maximum torque and a rated power factor while reducing an increase in a starting current. In view of this, the rotary electric machine includes a shaft, a rotor, and a stator. The rotor is fixed to an outer periphery of the shaft. The stator is located so as to surround an outer periphery of the rotor. The rotor includes a rotor iron core including a plurality of rotor slots located at predetermined intervals in a circumferential direction and rotor bars inserted into the rotor slots. Rotor slits communicate with outer peripheral sides of the rotor slots. The rotor slits have a width ws in a circumferential direction. The width ws is smaller than a height hs in a radial direction of the rotor slit, and when a rated current is denoted as I, a turn ratio (primary/secondary) is denoted as Tr, and a magnetic permeability in a vacuum is denoted as &#x3bc;, a relationship of ws&#x3e;&#x3bc;&#xd7;I&#xd7;Tr/0.6 is met.
