A display device comprises: a display panel; a metallic wiring formed in the display panel; and a semiconductor integrated circuit element connected to the display panel through a UV curing anisotropy conductive film, wherein the semiconductor integrated circuit element includes a plurality of bumps, the metallic wiring is electrically connected to the bumps through the UV curing anisotropy conductive film, the metallic wiring includes a plurality of openings, and at least one of the bumps is disposed between two adjacent openings closest to each other in the plurality of openings.

An object of the present invention is to reduce the number of defective connections between wires for source drivers and video signal lines. The present invention provides a display device having a display panel with a number of scan signal lines and a number of video signal lines, first wiring boards having first circuit parts connected to the scan signal lines, second wiring boards having second circuit parts connected to the video signal lines, and a control circuit where two opposite sides of the display panel each have a number of first wiring boards, the other two sides each have a number of second wiring boards, and the second wiring boards each have a first wire for connecting the control circuit and a second circuit part, a second wire for connecting a second circuit part and a video signal line, and a third wire for connecting the control circuit and a first circuit part in one of the two regions between which the first wire and the second wire are provided.

Display device to reduce the number of defective connections

The present invention prevents, when a COF which is connected with an external circuit is bent in a flat display device, the disconnection of lines on the COF. At a position where a line of the COF is connected to terminal portions of a TFT, and the line having a large width is branched into lines having a small width Tto Tor Tto T. By displacing line branching positions from each other as indicated by an arrow A and an arrow B, when the COF is bent or deformed, stress applied to the line branching positions can be dispersed thus preventing the disconnection of lines.

Display device and flat display device

A display device includes a substrate, a display region having pixels on the substrate, a drive circuit element mounted on a peripheral portion of the substrate, a plurality of terminal portions formed on the peripheral portion and arranged on a mounting portion of the drive circuit element, and a plurality of wiring lines prolonged from the terminal portions to the outside of the mounting portion of the substrate. The terminal parts are arranged to two lines of the plurality of wiring lines along one end of the mounting portion, a plurality of bumps connected to each of the terminal portions by an anisotropic conductive film are formed on the plane facing the terminal portion of the drive circuit element, a part of the plurality bumps include a first bump and a second bump which is adjoined close to the first bump.

The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device which can establish the reliable connection between a printed circuit board and a semiconductor device in spite of the simple constitution thereof. The liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel, a printed circuit board arranged close to the liquid crystal display panel, and a semiconductor device arranged between the liquid crystal display panel and the printed circuit board in a striding manner. The semiconductor device includes a flexible printed circuit board and a semiconductor chip. The flexible printed circuit board includes a plurality of first terminals connected to the printed circuit board and a plurality of second terminals connected to a liquid-crystal-display-panel side. The printed circuit board includes a solder resist film, an opening portion formed in the solder resist film, and a terminal portion arranged in the opening portion and consisting of a plurality of terminals connected to the first terminals of the flexible printed circuit board. The terminal portion of the printed circuit board and the first terminals of the semiconductor device are connected with each other by way of an anisotropic conductive film. The anisotropic conductive film overlaps with at least the respective terminals of the terminal portion of the printed circuit board and the solder resist film.

Liquid crystal display device

The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device which can enhance the accuracy in feeding back a common potential applied to common voltage supply lines. A display panel includes a common bus line electrically connected to common electrodes and formed annularly on a periphery of the display region, a common sensing line for feeding back a voltage of the common bus line to a control printed circuit board, a scanning-signal-drive-circuit-use power source line for supplying electricity for driving a scanning signal drive circuit, and a common-voltage-supply-use line for supplying a common voltage to the common bus line. The common-voltage-supply-use line, the common sensing line and the scanning-signal-drive-circuit-use power source line are formed along one side of the display panel to which at least the scanning signal drive circuit is connected. The common sensing line is formed between the common-voltage-supply-use line and the scanning-signal-drive-circuit-use power source line on one side of the display panel.

TFTs are formed on a substrate. An interlayer insulation film is formed on the substrate to cover the TFTs. Lower layer portions of SD lines formed of a multi-layered film which are formed on the interlayer insulation film constitute a lower electrode of an organic EL layer. An uppermost layer of the SD line is formed of a chemically stable metal oxide film, and the SD layer is used as it is. On the other hand, as a lower electrode of an organic EL layer, an upper layer of the SD line is removed and an Al&#x2014;Si, alloy film of the SD line is used. Due to such a constitution, it is possible to reduce a cost by shortening steps while holding the performance and the reliability of organic EL.

Liquid crystal display device with common electrodes connected across gate signal lines utilizing bridge lines and connection portions

A liquid-crystal display device is provided which is improved in image quality by supplying a reference voltage signal to a liquid-crystal display panel through a multiplicity of distributed supply paths. The liquid-crystal display device includes a liquid-crystal display panel and a semiconductor device connected to a part of a periphery of the liquid-crystal display panel. The liquid-crystal display panel has a plurality of signal lines for supplying various signals to address pixels, on one of a pair of substrates arranged oppositely through a liquid crystal. The signal lines include a common bus line for supplying a reference voltage signal. The semiconductor device is structured with a semiconductor chip mounted on a flexible board. The flexible board at least has a line leading to a terminal for supplying a signal to the signal line of the liquid-crystal display panel through the semiconductor chip. The reference voltage signal is to be supplied to the common bus line of the liquid-crystal display panel through at least a common line formed on the flexible board of the semiconductor device. The common line on the flexible board is formed in an area outside a mount area of the semiconductor chip and in an area passing through the mount area of the semiconductor chip.

The present invention can easily inspect the connection between a flexible printed circuit board and terminals. In a display device which includes a display panel which forms a plurality of lines as first lines on a terminal portion thereof, and a film-like substrate which forms a plurality of lines as second lines thereon, the display panel has a determination terminal which is arranged close to the terminal portion, has a width larger than a width of the terminal, and has a portion thereof removed, the film-like substrate forms third lines and fourth lines arranged close to the second lines thereon, the third lines face the determination terminal, and the fourth lines face the removed portion of the determination terminal from which the portion is removed.

Display device and inspection method of position gap

A display device includes a substrate having plural signal lines connected to switching elements which are formed in an image display region, and plural terminals connected to respective ones of the signal lines. The terminals include a first group arranged at an image display region side and a second group arranged remote from the image display region side, the terminals being connected to output terminals of a driving circuit. The output terminals include a first group arranged at the image display region side and a second group arranged remote from the image display region side. The first group of terminals connect the first group of output terminals, and the second group of terminals connect the second group of output terminals. An area of a respective output terminal of the second group is larger than an area of a respective output terminal of the first group.

Liquid crystal display

To prevent the peeling-off of a drive circuit chip from an insulation substrate of a display device attributed to a residual stress between terminals formed on the insulation substrate and bumps formed on a mounting surface of a drive circuit chip, as well as to stabilize the connection resistance therebetween, the present invention provides an auxiliary bump for one of the bumps on the mounting surface of the drive circuit chip at an end edge side thereof with respect to the one of the bumps and arranges the auxiliary bump electrically in contact with one of the terminals formed on the insulation substrate of the display device with which the one of the bumps also is in electrical contact. Since the one of the bumps is spaced from the end edge side of the mounting surface of the drive circuit chip by the auxiliary bump, electrical contact thereof with the one of the terminals cannot be affected by the atmosphere, in which the display device is used, and distortion of a signal waveform caused thereat can be suppressed also.

In a display device including a display panel and a multi-layered printed circuit board which is arranged along one side of the display panel and is electrically connected to a plurality of leads of the display panel through a plurality of tape carrier packages, according to the present invention, a plurality of slits or notches are formed in a sheet fiber member which is impregnated with resin and constitutes a base sheet of the multi-layered printed circuit board along one side of the display panel. The discontinuity of the sheet fiber member formed by the slits or the notches absorbs the difference in thermal expansion of the multi-layered printed circuit board and the display panel due to the change of an ambient temperature of the display device and hence, it is possible to prevent peeling of the tape carrier package from the display panel or breaking of the tape carrier package per se.

Display device including imperfect connection parts extending between printed circuit boards for bridging

A display device includes a substrate having plural signal lines extending in one direction and arranged in parallel in a direction intersecting the one direction, terminals connected to respective ones of the signal lines, and a semiconductor chip mounted on the substrate. The semiconductor chip has plural bumps connected to corresponding terminals through an anisotropic conductive layer. The terminals include a first group of terminals arranged at an image display region side and a second group of terminals arranged at a side remote from the image display region. An area of a respective terminal of the second group is larger than an area of a respective terminal of first group.

A liquid crystal display is provided with respective signal lines and a semiconductor chip. Respective output bumps of the semiconductor chip are connected to corresponding respective signal lines through ax anisotropic conductive layer. The respective output bumps include a first group of output bumps which are arranged at a side close to the signal lines and a second group of output bumps which are arranged at a side remote from the signal lines. The area of respective bumps of the second group of output bumps which face the signal lines in an opposed manner is set larger than the area of respective bumps of the first group of output bumps which face the signal lines in an opposed manner. Due to such a constitution, a reliable connection between the mounted semiconductor integrated circuit and the signal lines is ensured.
