A cylinder head gasket for an internal combustion engine with a cylinder bore and a fluid hole includes a first metal plate having a curved portion around the cylinder bore and a folded portion extending from the curved portion, and a second metal plate laminated on the first metal plate and having a first full bead projecting toward the first metal plate. The first full bead is disposed on the folded portion. At least one secondary plate is inserted inside the folded portion.

Cylinder head gasket

A cylinder head gasket is provided for dealing with gas leak between cylinder bores of an engine with a reduced size and rigidity. A cylinder head gasket is formed of one or more metal plates. One metal plate is provided with a first bead, a second bead, and a third bead arranged from inside in this order around a cylinder bore. The first bead is formed around each of the cylinder bores. The second beads are combined into a single bead having a width greater than a width of other section of the second beads in an area between adjacent cylinder bores. The third bead does not pass through the area between the adjacent cylinder bores and surrounds all of the cylinder bores.

A cylinder head gasket for an internal combustion engine is basically formed by first and second metal plates laminated together. The first metal plate includes a base portion, a first hole to be sealed formed in the base portion, a curved portion extending from the base portion to surround the first hole, a flange extending from the curved portion and located above the base portion, an annular portion formed in the flange immediately outside the curved portion, and a first bead formed in the flange outside the annular portion to project outwardly. The second metal plate is laminated on the base portion not to overlap with the flange.

A cylinder head gasket is provided for dealing with gas leak between cylinder bores of an engine with a reduced size and rigidity. A cylinder head gasket is formed of a single metal plate provided with beads around cylinder bores. The bead has a portion formed in a wave shape only between adjacent cylinder bores. The wave shape portions may be arranged to enter with each other. The adjacent beads may be arranged such that the wave shape portions face each other. Alternatively, the adjacent beads may have a common wave shape portion.

A gasket is interposed at a joining portion between two members. The gasket includes a gasket base plate having an opening through which fluid flows and a plurality of annular beads formed in a wave shape over a predetermined area extending outwardly from a hole edge of the opening; and at least one shim covering only the annular beads. The shims are laser-welded at a welding portion to cover the beads. Thus, the metal gasket does not have a pressure trace on abutting surfaces of a cylinder head.

Metal gasket

Engine gaskets for automobiles are fabricated from an as-quenched stainless steel having a martensitic-ferritic duplex-phase phase structure in which martensite comprises from 40% to 80%. The steel has a composition comprising on a weight basis; C&plus;N: 0.1%-0.3%, Si: not greater than 0.5%, Mn: not greater than 0.7%, Cr: 10%-17%, and Ni: 0-0.6% and a Vickers hardness of from 300 to 500, The steel can be produced by quenching the steel after heating at 850-1000&deg; C.

Stainless steel fur gaskets

A sealing system is formed of gasket attaching portions facing each other, and a metal gasket. Each gasket attaching portion has a hole to be sealed and a flat surface portion around the hole. When the gasket attaching portions are assembled, the holes and flat surface portions face each other. At least one of the gasket attaching portions has a depression around the hole. The metal gasket includes a main portion situated between the flat surface portions of the gasket attaching portions, and an enlarged hollow portion attached to the main portion and facing the depression. When the gasket is tightened between the gasket attaching portions, the enlarged hollow portion is disposed in the depression and compressed thereat to securely and resiliently seal around the holes of the gasket attaching portions.
