Provided is a thermal insulator which can be prevented from having gaps. The thermal insulator includes a nonwoven fabric, and xerogel in interior spaces of the nonwoven fabric. The thermal insulator has a plurality of protrusions on a surface of the thermal insulator, a height of the protrusion ranges from 0.10to 0.25inclusive and a size of the protrusion at the surface of the thermal insulator ranges from t to 5inclusive, where t is a thickness of the thermal insulator, and pores are provided inside the thermal insulator in a region provided with the protrusions.

Thermal insulator and method for manufacturing same

A thermally-insulating sheet includes a thermal insulator which includes a fiber sheet made of fibers providing spaces among the fibers, a resin layer provided on a part of a surface of the fiber sheet, the first resin having a denser surface than the fiber sheet, and a silica xerogel held in the spaces of the fiber sheet. The thermally-insulating sheet further includes a protective sheet bonded onto the resin layer so as to cover the thermal insulator and to cover the surface of the fiber sheet. This thermally-insulating sheet hardly break even if having a large size.

A heat insulation sheet includes a fiber sheet having spaces therein and a silica xerogel held in the spaces of the fiber sheet. The heat insulation sheet includes a thick region and a low compressible region thinner than the thick region. A compressibility of the low compressible region is equal to smaller than 5% upon having a pressure of 0.7 MPa applied to the low compressible region. This heat insulation sheet is superior in electrical insulation properties and thermal insulation properties, and secures a predetermined distance even in a case that the heat insulation sheet receives pressures from the both sides thereof, thus providing equipment with reliability.

An object is to provide a heat insulating sheet that is easily attachable even if a size is increased, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. A heat insulating sheet includes nonwoven fabric, and heat insulating body carrying xerogel in a space inside nonwoven fabric. Heat insulating body includes first region carrying the xerogel, and second region not carrying the xerogel and provided inside an outer periphery of heat insulating body. The heat insulating sheet is configured such that each of both surfaces of heat insulating body is provided with protective sheet, and in a periphery of heat insulating body and in second region, protective sheets are mutually joined or protective sheets and second region are joined.

A heat insulation sheet includes a fiber sheet, a resin layer provided on a surface of an outer peripheral portion of the fiber sheet, and a silica xerogel disposed in spaces of the fiber sheet. The fiber sheet includes fibers forming spaces among the fibers. The resin layer is denser than the fiber sheet and made of thermoplastic resin. The silica xerogel is held in the plurality of fibers. This heat insulation sheet is excellent in adhesiveness, and is easily attached to a protective sheet or a frame to be fixed.

Heat insulation sheet, method for producing same, and secondary battery in which same is used

A battery includes a case, at least one of a first battery cell and a second battery cell disposed in the case, and a graphite sheet disposed at at least one of a position between the case and the first battery cell and a position between the first battery cell and the second battery cell. The graphite sheet has a terminal portion for taking out an electrical signal.
