An expandable poly(vinyl chloride) resin composition for use in powder molding process containing a granular poly(vinyl chloride) resin, a fine-granular poly(vinyl chloride) resin, a plasticizer, a stabilizer, a foaming agent and an alkyl phosphate gives by a powder molding process an expansion-molded article having remarkably strengthened foamed cells and free from the occurrence of surface unevenness caused by polyurethane backing.

A powder molding composition containing dry-blended polyvinyl chloride resins, plasticizers and stabilizers, which is characterized in that there are blended therein 0.05 to 5 parts by weight of barium salt of a carboxylic acid having a melting point not lower than 250.degree. C. and 0.01 to 5 parts by weight of zinc salt of a fatty acid containing 10 or more carbon atoms, per 100 parts by weight said polyvinyl chloride resins. The composition of the invention is excellent in releasability and resistance to mold staining.

Disclosed is a polyvinyl chloride resin powder composition for rotational molding, which is prepared by dry-blending a plasticizer and a stabilizer with a polyvinyl chloride resin followed by incorporating from 0.1 to 5 parts by weight, to 100 parts by weight of the polyvinyl chloride resin, of a finely divided polyvinyl chloride resin having a viscosity average polymerization degree of from 2000 to 5000 into the resulting dry blend. Also disclosed is a method of producing a molded article by subjecting the composition to rotational molding. The composition has good powder flowability for rotational molding, and the molded article from the composition is free from pin holes and blocks on the surface thereof.

A polyvinyl chloride resin composition for powder molding, containing a dry blend of a polyvinyl chloride resin and a plasticizer, wherein the plasticizer is a mixed trimellitate of a mixture of compounds of the formula ##STR1## where R is an alkyl group, each of the compounds contains the same or different alkyl group in the same or different molecules, and the alkyl groups in the mixture have a straight chain ratio of at least 85 mol % and consist of 5 to 55 mol % of alkyl groups having at most seven carbon atoms, 45 to 95 mol % of alkyl groups having eight carbon atoms, and at most 10 mol % of alkyl groups having at least nine carbon atoms.

The present invention relates to a foamable vinyl chloride resin composition for powder molding containing a foaming agent and method for the production thereof.
