A drilling machine performs a feed operation while rotating a spindle, suspends the feed operation of the spindle for a predetermined dwell time at a predetermined hole bottom position, and then performs drilling by retreating the spindle. A controller for controlling the drilling machine calculates the dwell time based on a prescribed rotation amount in response to specification of the prescribed rotation amount (dwell rotation amount) at the hole bottom position.

A failure prediction device is provided with a machine learning device configured to learn the state of a brake of a motor with respect to data on the brake. The machine learning device observes brake operating state data indicative of an operating state of the brake when the brake is in a normal state, as state variables representative of a current environmental state, and uses the observed state variables to learn a distribution of the state variables with the brake in the normal state.

A numerical controller decelerates a spindle feed rate in a bite portion to a bite velocity lower than a commanded feed rate when drilling is carried out and then, after passage through a velocity recovery point where a measured spindle load is made substantially constant, accelerates the spindle feed rate from the bite velocity to the commanded feed rate.

Provided is a numerical controller including a wait management table that stores wait management information of each machining program, a wait controller that performs wait control of each axis based on the wait management information with respect to an axis controller that controls each axis of each path, and a management unit that updates the wait management information of each machining program stored in the wait management table.

A manual pulse generator stores pulse data for past several cycles, along with an up-to-date pulse, into its buffer area. A numerical control device receives the pulse data transmitted from the manual pulse generator through a communication unit. An accumulated pulse amount calculation unit determines the amount of pulses to be accumulated in the buffer area according to the frequency of occurrence of communication errors of the received pulse data. A servo-output delay unit commands a control unit to start outputting to a servo processing unit after the received pulses are accumulated to the amount determined by the accumulated pulse amount calculation unit.
