A display system includes an image display part displaying an image indicating a mode selected in a driving device of a vehicle having a plurality of modes. A display switching device according to one or more embodiments may display images by switching light illumination from multiple light source positions. The device may include a lens array including multiple lenses that allow passage of light from the light source positions, a display layer including pixel regions that allow passage of light collected on the lenses included in the lens array, and a diffusion layer located opposite to the light source positions with the lens array in between to diffuse passing light. The diffusion layer optically adheres to a layer adjacent to a surface of the diffusion layer nearer the light source positions, or the diffusion layer and the layer adjacent the surface of the diffusion layer nearer the light source positions include the same material.

A display switching device according to one or more embodiments may include a lens array including an array of a plurality of lenses and a display unit. Light from each of the plurality of light source positions transmits through a different position on the display unit and is focused by a corresponding lens. The transmittance at a position of a plurality of positions on the display unit is a transmittance of one of three or more types.

A display switching device () is provided, which switches a display image (P) by switching irradiation of lights from positions of a plurality of light sources (). The display switching device includes: a lens array () in which a plurality of lenses are arranged; and a display part () including a plurality of pixel regions () arranged to include a region through which a light, which is formed by condensing each of the lights emitted from the positions of the plurality of light sources () with each of the lenses of the lens array (), passes. A transmittance in each of the pixel regions () is set corresponding to a predetermined stationary pattern. A total area of the pixel regions () in the display part () is 60% or less of a total area of a sum of the pixel regions () and the pixel surrounding regions ().

A light source device includes a light source configured to emit illumination light and a flat plate shaped transparent lightguide element. The lightguide element includes: an incident surface facing the light source; a reflecting surface formed in one of side surfaces of the lightguide element to reflect the illumination light incident into the lightguide element from the incident surface; and an exit surface formed in a side surface of the lightguide element on an opposite side to the reflecting surface, the illumination light reflected by the reflecting surface exiting from the exit surface. The reflecting surface is formed into a curved surface, the curved surface collimating the illumination light reflected by the reflecting surface in a surface including a lengthwise direction of the reflecting surface, and the reflecting surface is formed into a concave mirror in a surface including a short direction of the reflecting surface.

An optical structure, a light guide, and a display device can reduce an influence of diffraction and improve optical performance more than conventionally possible. A reflective pattern (A) is an optical structure that changes a traveling direction of light and emits the light, the optical structure including: a reflective surface () formed of a flat surface and configured to change a traveling direction of light; and a both-end curved surface () formed adjacent to the reflective surface () and having a surface in a curved shape corresponding to a side surface of a cylinder.

In a display device () that makes an image light ray enter from an end face of a light guide plate () and emits the image light ray, reflected or refracted by each of a plurality of emission structures (prisms) provided on the light guide plate, from a light exit surface () of the light guide plate, a light reflection layer or a light absorption layer is formed on at least one optical surface among optical surfaces provided on the emission structure (the prism) except for an optical surface that reflects or refracts the image light ray.

A display device configured for use as a backlight for a display panel that effects presentation via liquid crystals that produce a monochrome image. The display device includes a light guide plate; and a first and a second light source arranged at an edge of the light guide plate. The light guide plate includes: an emission surface; a cluster of first reflective structures configured to reflect light incident thereon from the first light source thereby changing the optical path of the light and causing the light to exit from the emission surface to serve as the backlight; and a cluster of second reflective structures configured to reflect light incident thereon from a second light source thereby changing the optical path of the light and causing the light to exit from the emission surface to effect a predetermined display.
