An image processing apparatus obtains image data obtained by reading an original, specifies a type of the original using obtained image data, and displays, on a display unit, character strings used for a name of a file of the obtained image data, as selectable candidates of character strings. When a user selects a character string of the candidates of character strings among the candidates of character strings, the image processing apparatus sets the selected character string as a character string used for the name of the file of the image data. The candidates of the character strings displayed on the display unit are selected in accordance with the specified type of the original.

An image processing apparatus performs operations. A mode is designated in repeat layout processing. A document area is detected by performing image analysis processing on a scanned image, and an inclination-corrected document image is acquired by performing extraction and inclination correction of a document image based on the detected document area. An initial repeat target area position is determined based on the acquired inclination-corrected document image and the designated mode, the inclination-corrected document image and a frame indicating the determined position are displayed, and a repeat target area designation screen is displayed to change a position of the frame indicating the repeat target area based on a user instruction. An output image is generated after the repeat layout processing by repeatedly laying out, in a designated sheet size, an image of the repeat target area determined based on the frame set on the repeat target area designation screen.

Image analysis processing is performed on a scanned image to detect a document area and, based on the detected document area, a tilt-corrected document image is obtained by extraction and tilt correction of the document image. Further, an image output size of printing an image in a repeat target area specified based on the tilt-corrected document image is specified, magnification of the image in the repeat target area is changed to the output size, and the image is repeatedly laid out within a specified sheet size. Thus, in an apparatus that generates a repeat layout processed output image and controls print processing, an image output size which is the same as an image output size for the front side of a sheet is specified for the back side of the sheet in a case where the repeat layout processing is performed on both the sides of the sheet.

The tilt-corrected document image and a frame indicating a repeat target area are displayed in a repeat target area specification screen. The initially displayed frame indicates an area corresponding to the tilt-corrected document image. A position of the displayed frame can be changed based on a user's instruction on the screen. A repeat layout-processed output image is generated by repeatedly laying out an image of the repeat target area determined based on the frame set on the screen within a specified sheet size, and print processing is made executable.

An image inside the set repeat target area is scaled up/down such that the image has the output size, and the image is repeatedly laid out within a designated sheet size to create an output image subsequent to repeat layout processing. Print processing is executed by using the output image subsequent to the repeat layout processing.

A display control apparatus which enables a user to easily determine positions of boundary lines in a preview image. A first image is generated based on an initial image or a processing result of first image processing performed on the initial image, and a second image is generated based on a processing result of second image processing performed on the initial image. Display of the preview image is controlled based on the first image and the second image. An operation performed by a user on a control point for determining a position of at least one boundary line in the preview image is received. In a display process for the preview image, at least a part of the first image and at least a part of the second image are displayed based on the boundary line the position of which is determined by the control point.
