Embodiments of this present disclosure include an industrial automation system, including an operational technology (OT) industrial automation device. The OT industrial automation device may perform an operation for the industrial automation system. Further, the OT industrial automation device may receive data comprising instructions related to the operation. Embodiments also include a monitoring device to receive the data; identify the OT industrial automation device based on the data; retrieve one or more rules for providing communications to the OT industrial automation device in response to identifying the OT industrial automation device; and selectively forward the data to the OT industrial automation device based on the one or more rules.

Network monitoring system for operational technology devices

For automatic device addressing, a processor configures each node device on a serial network for an order measurement. The processor further measures an order parameter for each of the node devices. The processor determines an order number of each of the node devices based on the order parameter for the node device.

Automatic device ordering

A method for correlating data from different sensors for product lifecycle management includes receiving sensor information from an additional sensor of a plurality of sensors of an industrial operation. The additional sensor is different from component sensors used for functionality of a component of the industrial operation. Sensor information from the additional sensor monitors conditions of a portion of the industrial operation different from sensor information of the component sensors used for the functionality of the component. The method includes deriving, using the sensor information, a correlation between an operational parameter of the component and sensor information of the additional sensor. The operational parameter is related to a predicted operational lifetime of the component. The method includes identifying an abnormal operating condition of the component based on a comparison between additional sensor information from the additional sensor and the operational parameter, and sending an alert with the abnormal operating condition.

Product lifecycle management

For a bi-directional bus topology, a node connection includes two select line connections for a select line of a serial network. The select line is broken at the node connection. A bus direction module configures a first select line connection for an input line and a second select line connection for an output line in response to detecting a selection event. At least a portion of the bus direction module includes one or more of hardware and executable code, the executable code stored on a memory.

Bi-directional bus topology

A multidrop system configured to be installed within a motor control center (MCC) of an industrial automation system includes a trunkline. The trunkline includes multiple multidrop make and break devices connected through a trunkline cable. Each of the multidrop make and break device includes a first network component, and a second network component. The first network component is configured to form a first subnet over the trunkline. The second network component is configured to couple a MCC withdrawable unit and form a second subnet over a branchline that connects one or more nodes within the MCC withdrawable unit. The multidrop make and break device is configured to couple the MCC withdrawable unit to, and decouple the MCC withdrawable unit from, the second network component without disrupting the first subnet.

An operator control station of an industrial automation system includes at least one input interface to receive a user input and a communication interface to communicate with one or more devices of the industrial automation system, including a first device via an Ethernet communication protocol. The operator control station also includes a controller communicatively coupled to the communication interface. The controller performs operations including generating a signal based on the user input and the signal instructs the first device to control at least one component of the industrial automation system. The controller also performs operations including providing the signal to the communication interface for transmission to the first device via the Ethernet communication protocol.

A connector for receiving a ribbon cable is provided. The connector includes a housing with an open top, and a cable organizer configured to be positioned within an interior of the housing and the open top and to receive the ribbon cable. The cable organizer includes a surface with a first cable grab hook adjacent a first end thereof, configured to receive a first portion of the ribbon cable via a snap-fit engagement. The connector also includes cover configured to selectively cover the open top of the housing to enclose the cable organizer within the interior of the housing. The cover includes a notch extending therethrough, sized to receive an upper detent of the cable organizer so that the upper detent extends through the notch and remains viewable when the cover encloses the cable organizer within the interior of the housing.

Systems and methods for a cable connector

A connector for receiving a ribbon cable is provided. The connector includes a housing including an open top, a cable organizer, and a cover. The cable organizer is configured to be positioned within an interior of the housing and configured to receive the ribbon cable upon an upper surface thereof. The cover is configured to selectively cover the open top of the housing to enclose the cable organizer within the interior of the housing. The cover is coupled to the housing and includes a latch configured to engage the housing and the cable organizer and move in a both vertical direction relative to the housing and rotate relative to the housing.

A component includes first and second switches in series and connected between a power source and a coil of contacts of a safety relay. A first controller controls the first switch with a close signal that closes the first switch or a first PWM signal that opens and closes the first switch on each PWM cycle. A second controller controls the second switch with a close signal that closes the second switch or a second PWM signal that opens and closes the second switch on each PWM cycle. A PWM sensing circuit connected to the coil sends a sensed PWM signal to an input of the first and second controllers. The first controller sends the first PWM signal while the second controller sends a close signal and vice-versa. The controllers verify that the received PWM signal matches the sent PWM signal.

A multidrop cable may include multiple nodes electrically coupled thereon. The nodes may each include a respective PCB layer and a respective connector. The connector may provide connection between the transmission lines of the multidrop cable and the PCB layer. The PCB layer may include circuitry to reduce an induced noise of the multidrop cable by adding twist to the respective signals of the transmission lines. The PCB layer may also preserve the characteristic impedance of the multidrop cable by providing inductance in series between the respective signals of the transmission lines.

Systems, methods and apparatus for supporting multiple network addressing modes

Systems and methods for providing diagnostic information by an intelligent power tap is disclosed. The power tap includes a circuit board and a microcontroller disposed on the circuit board. The microcontroller is configured to provide a status report of the intelligent power tap. The power tap further includes a physical layer network interface connected to the microcontroller and the physical network. The intelligent power tap is configured to inject at least one of a network power and a switched power into the network system.

Intelligent power tap for providing power and communicating in industrial automation applications

Systems and methods are provided for a power tap with adjustable configuration. The power tap includes a circuit board that acts on the adjustable configuration to define the function of the power tap in the system. The power tap may include a microcontroller or a set of discrete logic disposed on a circuit board connected to an adjustable configuration mechanism, which defines the intelligent power tap's function in the network system.
