A method is disclosed herein for reducing energy consumption in a wireless device. A wireless device (e.g., a user equipment) can provide an indication to a network node (e.g., a base station) to indicate that the wireless device will prioritize energy consumption reduction over some network requirements (e.g., latency and/or scheduling flexibility requirements). Accordingly, the wireless device can perform certain power-saving actions to reduce energy consumption. The network node, upon receiving the indication from the wireless device, can perform certain network-related actions to assist the wireless device in reducing energy consumption. As a result, it is possible for the wireless device to reduce energy consumption and complexity, thus helping to prolong battery life in the wireless device.

Methods and devices for reducing UE energy consumption

Systems and methods are disclosed herein for Control Resource Set (CORESET) enhancements for initial access. In one embodiment, a method performed by a wireless communication device comprises receiving and decoding a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) transmission in a CORESET in accordance with at least a portion of a Control Channel Element (CCE) to Resource Element Group (REG) mapping. The PDCCH transmission comprises one or more CCEs. The CCE to REG mapping comprises an interleaved portion that maps the one or more CCEs to a first set of REGs that are spread across a bandwidth of the CORESET, and a second portion that maps at least a portion of an additional CCE to at least a REG in a frequency gap between two REGs in the first set of REGs, the additional CCE corresponding to one of the CCEs mapped to the first set of REGs.

Coreset enhancement for reduced bandwidth UEs initial access

Methods for scheduling mixed type traffics via multiple Transmission/Reception Points (TRPs) are provided. In embodiments disclosed herein, a base station provides, and a wireless device receives, a scheduling information for scheduling the mixed type traffics with different Quality of Service (QoS) requirements via multiple TRPs. In a non-limiting example, the mixed type traffics include an enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) service and an Ultra-Reliable and Low Latency Communication (URLLC) traffic service, and the scheduling information can be conveyed in a single Downlink Control Information (DCI) or a pair of DCIs. As such, it is possible to enable efficient scheduling of both eMBB traffic and URLLC traffics simultaneously. As a result, it is possible to satisfy a reliability requirement of the URLLC service without sacrificing spectral efficiency and/or throughput of the eMBB service.

Multi TRP based scheduling of mixed type traffics

A method performed by a wireless device, UE, for configuring a semi-persistent scheduling, SPS is described. In accordance with the method, the UE may be configured to monitor a first search space of a physical downlink control channel for downlink control information, DCI, dedicated to the UE. The method may include receiving from the communication network SPS configuration data to configure a second search space to be monitored by the UE for DCI to activate or de-activate the SPS, the second search space being smaller than the first search space, and monitoring the second search space to detect the DCI to activate or de-activate the SPS. A corresponding method may be performed by a network node.

Activation and de-activation of semi-persistent scheduling

A method by a reduced capability wireless device includes receiving system information from a network node. The system information comprising information specific to the reduced capability wireless device. The reduced capability wireless device performs an operation using at least the information specific to the reduced capability wireless device received in the system information.

Methods for enabling a low bandwidth wireless device to access a new radio cell via a wideband control resource set

A method is performed by a wireless device for early data transmission. The method comprises receiving a broadcast from a network node. The broadcast indicates a maximum transport block size for early data transmission and a number of transport block size candidates. The method further comprises selecting a transport block size for early data transmission. The transport block size is selected based on a table entry that corresponds to the maximum transport block size and the number of transport block size candidates. The method further comprises transmitting uplink data in one or more transport blocks. Each transport block has the selected transport block size.

A method performed by a network node () is disclosed. The network node determines (), based on one or more quality-of-service (QoS) parameters, an aggregated uplink (UL) scheduling pattern for a wireless device (), the aggregated UL scheduling pattern for the wireless device comprising UL resources from a plurality of carriers. The one or more QoS parameters indicate one or more QoS requirements associated with a service. At least one of the one or more QoS parameters indicates a delay requirement 0 associated with the service.

Uplink resource configuration

Techniques for fast adaptation of PDCCH monitoring by a UE via L1 signaling in order to reduce power consumption by the UE are disclosed. A base station sends first configuration information to a user equipment (UE) via higher layer signaling (e.g. RRC) to configure downlink control channel monitoring by the UE. Thereafter, the base station may send downlink control information to the UE via L1 signaling to adapt the PDCCH monitoring by the 6 UE. The downlink control information may temporarily override or modify the parameters for PDCCH monitoring set by higher layers. The downlink control information may be send in an existing downlink control message or in a new downlink control message.

Control of power saving using layer-1 signaling

There is provided a method performed by a wireless device for communicating with a network node in a wireless communication network. The method includes using a field in a Master Information Block (MIB) received by the wireless device, as an indication of a presence of an extended MIB (eMIB) and identifying which candidate resource of at least one candidate resource that contains the eMIB based on the indication of the presence of the eMIB. Systems and methods are disclosed herein for transitioning between different scheduling delay assumptions. In some embodiments, a method performed by a wireless device comprises monitoring, during a first slot, for a downlink control channel comprising downlink control information that schedules a transmission for the wireless device with an assumption of a first scheduling delay that is equal to or exceeds a first value. The method further comprises determining that the wireless device is to switch from the assumption of the first scheduling delay to an assumption of a second scheduling delay that is equal to or exceeds a second value that is less than the first value. The method further comprises monitoring, during one or more later slots that occur after the first slot, for a downlink control channel comprising downlink control information that schedules a transmission for the wireless device with the assumption of the second scheduling delay.

Methods and apparatuses for adaptive discontinuous reception configuration

A method performed by a User Equipment (UE) for handling a Control Resource Set (CORESET) from a network node in a wireless communications network is provided. The UE operates with a reduced bandwidth. The UE detects a CORESET from the network node, and that a bandwidth of the CORESET is larger than the bandwidth of the UE.
