A brazing-sheet manufacturing method includes superposing a core-material slab on or adjacent to at least one surface of a filler-material slab to form a clad slab, the core-material slab being composed of an aluminum material and the filler-material slab being composed of an Al—Si—Mg series alloy. Then, the clad slab is hot rolled to form a clad sheet having a core material layer composed of the aluminum material of the core-material slab and a filler material layer composed of the Al—Si—Mg series alloy of the filler-material slab. Then, the clad sheet is subjected to one or more passes of cold rolling. Either between cold-rolling passes or after the completion of the cold rolling, a surface of the clad sheet is etched using a liquid etchant that includes one or more inorganic acids. The liquid etchant does not contain fluorine atoms.

Method of manufacturing a brazing sheet

In a brazing sheet manufacturing method, a cladding slab is prepared by overlaying at least a core-material slab composed of an aluminum material and a filler-material slab composed of an Al&#x2014;Si series alloy, in which a metal element that oxidizes more readily than Al is included in at least one of the slabs. A clad sheet is prepared by hot rolling this cladding slab, which then has at least a core material layer composed of the core-material slab and a filler material layer composed of the filler-material slab and disposed on at least one side of the core material. Then, a surface of the clad sheet is etched using a liquid etchant that contains an acid. Subsequently, the clad sheet is cold rolled to a desired thickness. In flux-free brazing, such a brazing sheet is capable of curtailing degradation in brazeability caused by fluctuations in dew point and oxygen concentration.

A brazing method for brazing a material without using a flux includes performing brazing in an inert gas atmosphere, in a state in which the material to be brazed is covered with a cover member formed of an upper cover portion covering the whole upper portion of the material to be brazed and side cover portions covering at least some of the side portions of the material to be brazed, with the upper cover portion contacting the upper portion of the material to be brazed, and the material to be brazed and the cover member are held with a heat transmission promoting member formed of an upper heat transmission promoting portion and a lower heat transmission promoting portion, with the upper heat transmission promoting portion contacting the upper cover portion, and with the lower heat transmission promoting portion contacting the lower portion of the material to be brazed.

Brazing method for brazing material formed of aluminum alloy in inert gas atmosphere without using flux

A method for manufacturing a heat exchanger () includes joining an inner fin () to a hollow structure () formed from at least two clad plates () by heating and brazing a filler metal layer (B). Each clad plate has a core layer (A) composed of an aluminum alloy that contains Mg: 0.40-1.0 mass %. The filler metal layer is composed of an aluminum alloy that contains Si: 4.0-13.0 mass %, and further contains Li: 0.0040-0.10 mass %, Be: 0.0040-0.10 mass %, and/or Bi: 0.01-0.30 mass %. The inner fin is composed of an aluminum alloy that contains Si: 0.30-0.70 mass % and Mg: 0.35-0.80 mass %. A flux (F) that contains cesium (Cs) is applied along a contact part (), and the vicinity thereof, of the at least two clad plates prior to the heating. A heat exchanger () may be manufactured according to this method.

Heat exchanger and method of manufacturing the same

A flux-free brazing aluminum alloy brazing sheet includes: a core material formed of aluminum alloy comprising Si of 0.50 to 0.90 mass %, Cu of 0.30 to 2.50 mass %, and Mn of 1.40 to 1.80 mass %, with a Mg content limited to 0.05 mass % or less, and with the balance being Al and inevitable impurities; an intermediate material being formed of aluminum alloy comprising Mg of 0.40 to 1.00 mass %, and Zn of 2.00 to 6.00 mass %, with the balance being Al and inevitable impurities; and a brazing material being formed of aluminum alloy comprising Si of 6.00 to 13.00 mass %, Mg of 0.05 to 0.40 mass %, and Bi of 0.010 to 0.050 mass %, with the balance being Al and inevitable impurities.

Flux-free brazing aluminum alloy brazing sheet

An aluminum alloy brazing sheet used for brazing aluminum, without using a flux, in an inert gas atmosphere or vacuum is formed by arranging a brazing material on one side or both sides of a core material made of pure aluminum or aluminum alloy, the brazing material including 6% to 13% by mass of Si and the balance being Al and inevitable impurities, and performing cladding with an intermediate material interposed between the core material and the brazing material, the intermediate material including 0.01% to 1.5% by mass of Bi, 1.5% to 13% by mass of Si, and the balance being Al and inevitable impurities, the intermediate material having a thickness of 2% to 35% of a thickness of the brazing material, wherein one or both of the intermediate material and the core material includes 0.4% to 6% by mass of Mg.

Aluminum alloy brazing sheet

A brazing sheet for brazing in an inert-gas atmosphere without using a flux has a core and a filler material clad to one side or both sides of the core. The core has a chemical composition that contains Mg: 0.35-0.8% (mass %; likewise hereinbelow), the remainder being composed of Al and unavoidable impurities. The filler material has a chemical composition that contains Si: 6-13% and Bi: 0.001-0.05% and Mg: limited less than 0.05%, the remainder being composed of Al and unavoidable impurities.

Aluminum-alloy brazing sheet

A hollow aluminum structure that will be brazed includes at least one brazing sheet having a filler metal layer clad onto a core layer. The core layer is composed of aluminum or an aluminum alloy containing less than 0.2 mass % Mg. The filler metal layer is composed of an aluminum alloy that contains Si: 4.0-13.0 mass % and Bi: 0.01-0.3 mass %, and further contains Li: 0.004-0.08 mass % and/or Be: 0.006-0.12 mass %, the filler metal layer containing less than 0.1 mass % Mg. The hollow aluminum structure is assembled such that the filler metal layer is present at locations that will form both an interior-facing brazed joint and an exterior-facing brazed joint. Then, flux is applied onto the filler metal layer at the location that will form the exterior brazed joint, and the hollow aluminum structure heated in an inert gas atmosphere to form the interior brazed joint and the exterior brazed joint.

Brazing method

A highly corrosion resistant and highly formable cladded aluminum-alloy material, a method for producing the same, a heat exchanger using the same and a method for producing the same are shown. The present cladded aluminum-alloy material has an aluminum alloy core material, an intermediate layer material clad on one surface of the core material and a brazing filler metal clad on the intermediate layer material surface which is not at the core material side, wherein a crystal grain size of the intermediate layer material before brazing heating is 60 &#x3bc;m or more, and in a cross section of the core material in a rolling direction before brazing heating, when R(&#x3bc;m) represents the crystal grain size in a plate thickness direction, and R(&#x3bc;m) represents the crystal grain size in the rolling direction, R/Ris 0.30 or less.

Cladded aluminum-alloy material and production method therefor, and heat exchanger using said cladded aluminum-alloy material and production method therefor

Provided are: a method for brazing an aluminum alloy, which is characterized in that brazing is carried out by heating an aluminum brazing sheet without using flux in a furnace that is in an argon gas-containing atmosphere, said aluminum brazing sheet comprising a core material that is composed of aluminum or an aluminum alloy and a brazing filler material that is composed of an aluminum alloy and clad on one surface or both surfaces of the core material, and said core material and/or said brazing filler material containing Mg; and a brazing apparatus which is used in the method for brazing an aluminum alloy. The brazing method has good and stable brazing properties and is applicable in industrial practice.

Method for brazing aluminum members and brazing apparatus used for same

A method of brazing an aluminum or aluminum alloy material, containing brazing an aluminum alloy brazing sheet that has an aluminum or aluminum alloy core material and, being clad on one or both surfaces, a filler alloy layer comprised of an Al&#x2014;Si-based alloy and contains Mg incorporated at least in a constituent layer except the filler alloy layer, thereby to form a hollow structure whose one surface clad with the filler alloy is the inner surface, wherein the brazing is carried out in an inert gas atmosphere without applying any flux; and an aluminum alloy brazing sheet which satisfies the relationship: (X+Y)&#x2266;a/60+0.5 and X&#x3e;Y, wherein a (&#x3bc;m) represents the thickness of the filler alloy layer clad on the core material of the inner side of the hollow structure, and X and Y (mass %) represent the Mg contents of the core material and the brazing material, respectively.

Method of brazing aluminum or aluminum alloy materials and aluminum alloy brazing sheet

A flux for brazing aluminum members comprising potassium tetrafluoroaluminate, potassium pentafluoroaluminate and oxyfluoroaluminum, accomplishing the brazing of aluminum members at temperatures 5.degree. C. to 20.degree. C. lower than the temperature of conventional brazing that uses fluoride fluxes. Thus, heating energy required for the brazing can thus be saved, and conventional brazing equipment can be used as it is, in principle, without any changes; and since no expensive elements are used in the fluxes, the cost of brazing aluminum members can be reduced.
