A weather strip for a door belt-molding disposed for sliding contact with a window glass to prevent water leakage between the door belt-molding and the window glass, comprising a root portion of which at least one portion is made of a material having a high coefficient of elasticity and resistance to permanent strain. The preferred materials are ethylene propylene rubber or a thermoplastic elastomer resin.

A compound molding, suitable for use on automotive vehicle bodies, comprises a surface layer portion made of a hard resin, an intermediate layer made of a resin, a central metal portion, and a protective portion made of a soft vinyl chloride resin at least at one edge portion of the molding where the molding contacts the vehicle body or window glass.

A trim strip for vehicles comprising an elongated plastic body defining an interior channel and opposed base edges defining an opening to the channel and being disposed proximate the vehicle surface; an elongated flexible soft plastic element integrally secured to the body at each base edge between the body and the vehicle surface; a stainless steel foil bonded to the exterior surface of the body, the foil having opposed foil edges secured to respective base edges; engaging means for securing the body to the vehicle surface, the engaging means being disposed in the channel and having opposed edges adjacent the interior surface of the base edges; and complementary interlocking means on the adjacent surfaces of the respective base and engaging means edges for securing the engaging means to the body and preventing relative motion between the body and the engaging means caused by thermal deformation.

Trim strip for vehicles

A retainer assembly for and method of securing a molding strip to an exterior automobile panel which includes a body engaged with the molding strip and having a surface which confronts the automobile panel. A double surface adhesive sheet is on part of the body surface and a liquid bonding agent on another part. The adhesive sheet holds the molding strip on the automobile panel while the liquid bonding agent solidifies. Thereafter, both the adhesive sheet and the bonding agent hold the molding strip in place.

Retainer assembly for molding strips and method of securing molding

A process for forming a decorative trim strip by extruding a thermoplastic material around a continuous length of metal strip. The thermoplastic material is shaped with longitudinal grooves and when the strip is bent along the groove, the thermoplastic material on opposite sides of the grooves comes into contact. The strip is heated and the thermoplastic material in contact fuses to essentially eliminate the grooves.
